Thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers. Cynthia is breathing on her own, still has the ventilator but it is not assisting. They hope to pull the ventilator tomorrow afternoon. Today they are reducing the sedation to prepare for tomorrow and will try to take her off sedation in the morning. The ICU staff here is great and helpful, I have no complaints. Joe
Wonderful to hear of Cynthia's improvement Joe. She is tough and determined. We are all pulling for her to be back to normal soon. K
Cynthia is doing about the same, they tried to reduce the sedation but she started thrashing around quite a bit. The pulmonary doctor said she would be on the ventilator for a couple more days. I am a little disappointed but otherwise okay. I am going to talk to her neurosurgeon tomorrow morning about the blackout issues she was having a week before the fall. In the meantime she is holding her own and taking a long nap. The bleeding area is about 3mm in diameter and is not bleeding anymore. They have no plans to do surgery. Joe
There is no change in Cynthia's condition, they are going to try again to pull out the ventilator tomorrow. Spent most of the day trying to contact the neurologist with no luck, I found his phone number but it is after hours now so will call him in the morning. My only complaint is the nurse would not give me his number. So I went to Google and found it. Should have done that earlier when the nurse wouldn't help me. Oh well live and learn. This is day 5. Joe
Hang in there Joe, hoping she will get better soon, but it might take some time buddy. It is amazing what they can do nowadays in these type situations.
Day 6 Cynthia has a bit of a setback, she had to have oxygen turned up to 75% and she has some wheezing in one lung. I'm afraid she might get pneumonia if things don't improve. Needless to say she is going to be on the ventilator for awhile longer. Joe
Day 7 Cynthia is doing a little better, she is not thrashing around and resting peacefully. Her oxygen is 60% and the goal is 40% or less. Joe
Day 8. Cynthia is doing about the same, her oxygen is 50% and they switched one of the pain meds to a not as strong one. Joe
