Once again I didn't get to work on the layout very much. Was able to fix one dead spot on the track, one of the feeder wires was hidden in the bench work so all I had to do is solder it to the buss. When I was working on the other spot our neighborhood lost power for a couple of hours and it was late when it came back on. Also worked on the stock yard earlier and got one more pen done less paint. Will post photos of the stock yard later today.

I finished the third pen, two gates and one fence on the last pen today. Will do the other three fences and a gate tomorrow afternoon, had to buy another package of styrene strips this evening to compete the stock yard. Altogether it will take three packs of strips and the total cost for the yard was a little over $13.

I finished all of the fencing for the stock yard this morning and sifted dirt on the base. Just glued everything in place, now I'm trying to figure out what type of building should go with the yard. Thinking about a two story packing house using some DPM wall pieces I have been saving for a project. Do you guys have any suggestions on what else to do with the yard area? Your help with this is greatly appreciated. Feed and water troughs are the first thing that comes to mind, have some saw dust that I could use for feed. Really glad that the fencing is done, it was a very tedious job and the template is wore out. Still need to make a loading chute to the track and a little touch up paint.

Altogether used over two and a quarter packages of styrene strips or about 20 feet and the total cost for the project was a little over $13.

I finished the building for the stock yard and oil depot, it measures 3.75 inches long, 1.5 wide and 1.6 tall. Now I need to make some signs for each industry and make sure they can be changed easily. Thinking about trying to use the sheet magnets hanging on our refrigerator for the back of each sign and attach the verbiage on top. For some reason there is a shadow in one photo and a shiny spot in the other, the Sun was just setting when I took the photos.

Also did some touch up paint on the stock yard.

Do you guys have any suggestions of another way to change signs easier.

Today I spread some dark brown ground foam on the pens of the stock yard, cut and painted another base for the building. Also replaced the large door on the front of the building and added double doors to the side near the yard. After that, attached ground foam to the new base, went ahead and cut a second base so I can change buildings to give more verity. This evening after dinner will make some fencing from the stock yard to the processing building.

This afternoon I finished the fencing from the stock yard to the processing building and a loading ramp.

My next project is the loading structure for the oil depot. It will be made from all styrene pieces and will service three tank cars.

Thank you Jim for the compliment!!! The stock yard smells like Wildorado, Texas in the middle of Summer.

  9. That looks great Joe. Nice work. Would you put something in the pic sometime so we get an idea of size? I look and forget this is N scale!

I think your magnet idea for the signs is good. It was my first thought too.

I set up the stock yard and processing building on module 06, still need to smooth out the foam. There is a 6x2 inch area of caulking on top of the foam that makes the bases rock a little and a slight mismatch between the bases.

This evening i started the loading platform for the oil depot, the deck is half way done. The twelve cross beams have been cut long and will do the final cut after the platform walkway is complete.

I just finished the 9 inch long 0.90 wide platform deck for the oil depot, will paint it in the morning. Going to build another platform for the ice house, it will be 10 inches long and the same width.

I painted the oil depot platform deck Black yesterday and bought two packages of styrene strips.

This afternoon I built the ice house platform deck and painted it Golden Brown. Tonight will work on the support structure for both industries, after that will start the ice house building. The alternate industry for the ice house is a grain mill that is already assembled.

Tomorrow I want to cut the bases for the two industries above on module 04 and the sawmill or coal mine on module 08.
The oil depot or stock yard is on module 06.

Really having a lot of fun with these projects.

Hope you guys like my step by step work. Slow and steady.

For some reason I can't download photos. Would one of the administrators take a look to see what is going on? Don't have problems downloading on Trainboard so I know it's not my phone. Cynthia and I got new phones on the 1st and still trying to learn how to do some functions. Haha

I assume you mean upload photos to the forum. I don't see any issues.

Test Photo from iPhone 11 max pro. No issues for me either, Joe. I used the “Upload a File” button, selected photo from phone’s photo album and clicked upload. Then select Thumbnail or Full Image. At what point are you running into problems? B8FCC0E3-157B-4CC7-BE48-9E3160E7A39F.jpeg

When I click on upload and select photo it shows a black bar at the upper right corner with a smaller while bar moving. But then the white bar goes away and the photo id data changes to "no file chosen".

Mine does that when my cell signal is weak. Try restarting your phone and closing out the forum app. Open the forum again and retry. See if your signal strength is good. Good luck.

I tried turning the phone off and on but nothing changed, even tried logging out of website. Everything works fine on Trainboard.

The file size cannot be too big. Occasionally when I try to upload a photo, it just seems like it tries, no error, but nothing goes forward. I think that it is when I take an large image from the Canon camera and try to post without resizing.

I tried to upload photos on Cynthia's phone and still have the same problem. The moving white bar disappears and the photos file data changes to no file chosen. I don't know what else to try, any suggestions?

Are the photos taken with the phone’s camera or with a digital camera and then transferred to your phone? Maybe a dumb question but file size could be an issue.

This kind of trouble drives me insane.
