Today's projects were, first painted 28 feet of nylon string brown and then painted the barrel of the pulleys the same color. After that stuff dried I installed some string on the pulleys and counterbalances. Also installed the pier at the north tower and main span. I have enough details to almost finish the bridge, still need to order the safety ladders and stairs though.

Tomorrow afternoon will take photos of all the details from today's projects when the light is better also called the Sun. LOL

Here is the photo of the detail parts I did yesterday. Will start installing them in a few minutes and post photos later today.

Today's projects were installing the piers under the south tower, main span and the brown bridge. Then installed the winches, pulleys and counterbalances, after that I installed the cables. The bridge is as close to finishing as I can get, I'm short the safety ladders and stairs.

I forgot to tell you, still need to do touch up paint and handrails. Next step is to do some more feeder wires to prep for another video.

I have been working on the coal trestle this afternoon and evening. So far have built four bents and have installed them to a couple of balsa wood beams forming the trestle. Also cut the track ties between the bents for coal to fall through. The Peco code 80 track in the photo is just sitting there it's not glued on yet. There are five more bents to build and install them to the trestle. Hopefully I will finish them tonight and have it ready to paint in the morning. Will use the same paint as the brown bridge and cables. While the paint dries the plan is to carve out the area where the coal trestle will be on the front of module 06.

This afternoon I finished building the coal trestle less handrails. I will install it on the layout on module 06.

Yesterday I installed the coal trestle and track, then installed some foam on modules 06 and 07. After that carved the foam, painted it brown and sifted some real dirt on all of the modules except the flat areas. Today I'm going to install the ground foam on both modules and do a few feeder wires on module 06.

Cynthia has said that she will help me make trees, she is such a great wife, love her so much!!!

    Edit: added photos.

This evening I applied ground foam on modules 06 and 07 on the hill areas, left the flat areas alone because there will be another feature there. After that I made six telegraph poles.

Cynthia and I are making trees for a little bit, will install them tomorrow.

Yesterday evening installed the trees that Cynthia and I made and worked on the feeder wires on module 06 and 07. Today Cynthia and I made some more trees and I got them installed on the layout. After that I installed a turnout on module 06 on the track closest to the back of the modules. Next finished soldering feeder wires for the same modules.

Will post photos in the morning when the Sun is out and a video soon with a black and yellow Frisco RS2 #551 released by Atlas with a few railcars.

So far I installed a piece of track to the turnout for the stock yard or oil depot spur on module 06 and took photos. Later today will work on touch up paint on the bridge and do whatever needs to be done to take another video.

Today Cynthia made some more trees while I made a few telegraph poles.

The trees are made from Nandina seed pods with the berries removed and covered with small pieces of foam foliage from Woodland Scenery.

The telegraph poles are made from Q-tips with small diameter dowel rods for the handle. Cut the cotton tip off and what is left is a pole 35 feet long. Then I used CA to glue two 8 foot long crossbeams and them Golden Brown using acrilic.

What is the height of a Frisco telegraph pole?

Also did some touch up paint on the bridge.

Just about ready to do another video.

The Q-tips that I used to make telegraph poles is the same material used on the coal trestle. Cynthia gets two of them in a cleaning kit for her trech but it only lets you make two poles. So far I have 19 poles and installed them on the layout. Didn't use glue because I don't know how high they should be.

Some of the hills and bluffs on module 06 and 07 still need to be carved some more, will do that at a later date.

The next TV tray project is sracth build the stock yard, will have to find a source for the Q-tips. First place I will check is a pharmacy and ask for sterile Q-tips.

Does anyone know how high the telegraph poles should be?

This afternoon I made one section of the overhead valance to install some lights. It will probably be around the first of the month before I can install it. The valance will be over modules 04, 05, 06 and 07 and it's made from 1x3's and a sheet of 3/16 inch Masonite 24x96 inches in size.

Will look at LED's for the lights.

Today I started working on the stock yard, first I cut out the two bases one for the stock yard and the other for the oil depot. After that I assembled two fences and a gate. Didn't get a chance to work on the layout in the back bedroom today, maybe tomorrow because I don't have enough material to work on the stock yard any further.

Surprise Surprise, I had just enough styrene strips to make one more fence, only had a piece about an inch long left over. One board is in two pieces and when I painted the fence the paint covered up the splice . Need to go to Top Shelf Hobbies in Owasso to get more strips, hopefully they will be open on Tuesday unless the city made them close. Got to work on the layout today and did some more touch up paint on the bridge, this should be the last time. Have a couple of dead spots on one track that kept me from doing a video, will fix them tomorrow afternoon. It has been a very busy day today, Cynthia and I got out for about two hours and I'm beat, going to call it a night soon.

One last thing I wanted to show you what a Nandina seed pod looks like in the last photo.

    Joe

    Edit: corrected spelling of Nandina.

I reconfigured the stock yard to make part of one pen, the pieces that were cut off made a short fence and a gate. On an identical base I did a test fit for the oil depot, only have two large tanks and I plan to add more tanks, piping, a loading platform and a warehouse type of building. Both industries are interchangable to add variety for operations. Most of both will be scratch built.

Will work on the dead spots in the track later this evening so I can make a video.

I didn't get to work on the layout yesterday but we went to Top Shelf Hobbies in Owasso and picked up a package of strip styrene for the stock yard.

This morning was able to finish one pen and applied dirt on part of the base. Getting ready to work on the two dead spots in the track in a few minutes.
