Karl: I have finally gotten back to a long delayed project assembling information on the KCC&S. Basically I am looking for anything pertaining to the line with the objective of eventually pulling together some sort of publication to supplement Mahlon White's "Leaky Roof" book. Willing to share what I have. Any help appreciated.

That is I. We took a trip to visit my Great Uncle Henry, who lived in Salida, CO. We took the Frisco from Springfield to KC, the Colorado Eagle from to Pueblo, and the Royal Gorge to Salida. My uncle drove us over the recently abandoned Marshall Pass D&RGW narrow gauge line. This was one of the flats that the railroad left behind. Even though, I was a little snot, I have vivd memories of the train ride to Colorado, and drive over the pass and this flat car. At the time I thought it was a box car and I remember trying to spin the wheels. It was my first taste of narrow gauge which remains to this day.

      Karl,

Your profile picture, is that you or your son walking on an old flat car in the woods you found? What is the story behind that?

Hi Karl, are you having any trouble posting photos? I've been trying to post a depot photo for 3 days now and it won't upload. Just curious. Roger

Hi, Karl. I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm sure that you are Paul's brother. I worked with him at the Smoky Hill Railway a few years ago. It was a lot of fun riding on the motor car.

I find all of the info you have posted very interesting. I have a small farm north of Greenfield, MO and really appreciated all your posts concerning Greenfield and Lockwood. The "High Line" info was interesting as well.

I look forward to more of your posts in the future. Thanks.

Great pictures around the west portal of Alpine Tunnel! Things look about the same as when I accompanied Robert Bain (now deceased) as he researched his booklet Tracing the DSP&P in 1994.

      Howdy Karl,

Wow, nice present in the mail when I returned from vacation. I really appreciate your kind gift. I am sure I'll find a good use for it.

      Best regards,
      mike
