Re: Gravel loads local, descending Dixon Hill.; Loads were made by using the coal loads that came with the car. I cut the bottom sill off so it will fit lower in the car. Use full strength white glue, spread n scale ballast over glue and glue ballast down same as you would ballasting track.
Excellent. My Newburg roundhouse is flipped 180 degrees because it wouldn't have worked the other way.
Very nice - has the Lindenwood feel. Next, you should tear out all that stuff across the tracks and put in a disruptive Interstate construction project! Ken
I am not familiar with exactly how a sand drying tower works, but I have to say that you have done an excellent structure... Right down to the concrete pad footings. excellent work!
I understand what you say, John. I believe it's sister, my #714 (Holley-built) is one of my favorites.
Wow, just ran across this thread guys, what a nice thing to say, I appreciate it, . John, your scenery really makes it stand out! Keith I haven't seen any progress pictures of your MRR lately. How is the project coming along? My favorite Frisco locomotive, hhhhmmm, man thats a tuff one. GP7 or GP40-2 hhhhmmm. Gonna have to ponder this for a bit.
Installed skirting around the layout. Used clothespin glued to backside of fascia. Skirting was made by friend of ours who wanted a challenge. She took measurements and labeled each panel. My wife and myself glued the pins and hung them up, pretty easy.
That looks quite nice. Had not even thought of clothespins; we have plenty of those. Just when I was fretting about having to learn sewing skills to do something similar, I read somewhere about iron-on "hem tape" that can be used. At any rate, it lends a nice, clean look to your layout. Thanks for sharing, Best Regards,
FYI: These are the spring type clothes-pins that are hot glued to the fascia. Measure the pins at the same height from the bottom of fascia, once that glue sets up its nearly impossible to move and adjust. PS Don't drip any hot glue on your skin!
My friend across the street was at Lowe's and saw painter's canvas drop cloths in 4x8 pieces and bought some. That's what his layout skirt is and it makes a huge difference. It's a light tan color and he hung it without ruffles or pleats. Next time I'm at Lowe's I'm going to get some and follow suit. I just want something simple to cover the ugly underneath.
