Incidentally, I just checked on Trainboard, which is running the same version of vBulletin that we are here, and the upload works like it is supposed to there. I think that actually rules out anything on my system as being an issue. Paul
Because the upload fails, there is no way to attach the file to a message, since you ave to select it from the list of uploaded files. So this has nothing to do with the windows, only the upload process itself. This is what is happening to me. I know how to upload. My albums are full of pictures and I have plenty of pictures attached to post. Something is wrong, somewhere. If it was me I would drop it but others are experiencing the same problem. I have tried from seven other computers at different locations and have the same problem. Howard
I am doing some checking on this with the software developers. I'll report back when I find out what they say about this issue. Charlie
All I know is that until Charlie logged on with my password I could not upload anything after many attempts on many different days on many different computers. BUT after his log on BAM! BINGO! and it still works!
Charlie, I just changed my upload settings to have the enhanced uploader turned off. When I try to upload a file, I get the following error message: Code: Fatal error: File system directory "../vb/vbattachments/9/6/9" is not writable or cannot be found. Please create this directory; ensure the directory is writable or change the directory setting. Unable to proceed with save while $errors array is not empty in class vB_DataManager_AttachmentFiledata in ..../includes/class_dm.php on line 849 So there is a permissions error on the server. Using the enhanced uploader, the only thing we see is an icon with an "!" in a circle. Paul
All of the permissions are inherited from the main directory but I will look into it. If you mouseover the red icon it should show additional information. Charlie
The tooltip on the icon reads: Code: 500 [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2038"] From what I can tell from a google search, this also indicates a permissions error. Paul
Ok, give me a day or two to research that. I've come up with a touch of the flu so it will be a day or two. Charlie
Charlie, I hope you're feeling better, and that you are back on utility power at home. I am still getting the same error messages when I try to upload, so I just wanted to remind you that there is an issue here. Paul
Charlie I'm the latest to find that I can't upload/insert an image. I've never had this problem before, but from this message thread it appears that I am not alone. I have tried logging out and then logging back in but that didn't help. Gordon
Just a thought. I was having issues with loading/using third party cookies. My daughter, a guru of sorts, said my browser was " out of date", so she changed the browser, and my problems went away! Just FYI. Dan
I've been having a lot of minor problems with Internet Explorer over the past few months, even though I have the current version. I finally gave up and switched to Google Chrome per the advice of a friend who was having similar issues. Everything works fine now, and Chrome will even use the IE favorites list. FYI. Ken
For those having problems here, I am still working on this. Obviously, this is not a fast solution but one will be forthcoming. Charlie
Charlie When I try to upload a photo a red symbol appears on the upload screen and when you click it you get a box with a lot of undecipherable characters and "Error #2038". I've never had a problem uploading photos in the past, and I don't have problems attaching them to emails. I've tried logging out and back in and even rebooted, none of which helped. I'll send you my password in a PM and would be curious whether you have better luck. Thanks, and Happy New Year Gordon
