Re: Willing To Help Oddballs Decals?

Has anyone heard anymore outta Tom and his Decal producing indeavers? I am putting the finishing touches on a few projects and they require decals that only Tom produces to my knowledge. From all I have read I am not sure if I want to send money then grow old waiting for a much desired product!!

With all the advances in technology in computers and printers and increased access to information via the Internet I can't believe how nearly impossible it is to get decal sets. I know there's more to it than I realize but it seems like in this day and age a fellow could print his own at home somehow with decal paper. I figured by now there would be a company that you could by a program from to print any railroad decal set from any era. Maybe someday.

Unfortunately, I would strongly suggest you do NOT send money to Oddballs Decals.

I wish this were not the case, but I believe it to be the safe course for those that have not yet invested in what started out as a noble effort and forwarded funds in good faith.

Re: Willing To Help Oddballs Decals?

I have virtually all of Tom's Frisco (& QA&P) decal sets, plus those of several other roads. In many cases, I have duplicates. That shows you how much I like Tom's Oddballs decals!

If anyone in frisco.org is just desperate for a set or two, let me know the number. If I have dupes, or don't see the need for the set near term, I'll let you have them for the same price Tom charged.

I'm not anxious to sell any, but just trying to be of help while we wait for Tom to finally get his printer situation resolved.

Wasn't Tom the only one making Frisco decals for water tanks?

Re: Willing To Help Oddballs Decals?

Walthers earlier made some larger "FRISCO" (not "Frisco Lines") decals that would probably work for water towers, black coonskin. I have 'em somewhere in my decal drawer. They made MKT as well (red).

Tom made a number of different sizes, in both black and white and in both "Frisco" and "Frisco Lines" types, for Frisco water tanks. I have several of those sets, but not all.

I've only used one (I think it was a Walthers) - we have several wren houses out in the back around our patio. Proud to say we provide the world with several batches of new wrens each year - love those little guys! One of the houses is as a railroad depot. Naturally, I put a Frisco logo on it several years ago - it's about all gone by now, as is the birdhouse itself!

ps - The patio has three bricks in it, rescued from the former Frisco Rolla depot just as the BN tore it down. I've posted about those before when we were talking about the brick producers on the Frisco in Kansas. I still can go outside to the patio on a quiet night, armed with an adult libation, and if I concentrate, I can hear the Frisco still alive in those bricks. It usually takes several of the libations to produce that effect, but that's OK!

Re: Willing To Help Oddballs Decals?

Has anyone ordered (or received an order) from Oddball recently? I contacted Tom a couple of weeks ago about a custom order we had discussed and he indicated that I could go ahead and send it in. However, I am hesitant about doing so unless he is really back on line, so-o-o-o-o-o, has anyone had a recent experience (say, since the first of October?

Speaking of oddball, I am looking for a set of decals for the Moloco Transfer Caboose. I think they are made by Oddball. I have little hope of getting them. Of course I do not mind the money, but it does no good, if you don't get them. If anyone has extra let me know. The ones I think said "Kansas City Terminal" contact me PM or macon249@yahoo.com
    Thanks

Andre, please let us know if and when you receive your decals. One would think that an order valued at $500.00 would stand out for a small business such as this, as I'm sure that he doesn't get those very often. Kudos for handling it very assertively.

Has anyone received their orders they sent in to Tom since he got his printer back on line? I would like to order some decals from him but would like to confirm that he replies to orders/emails and has actually sent the product. There are some bad rumors going around about Tom and his business practices so I want to confirm before sending cash.
    Thanks,
    George

    Sakes Alive!
For the life of me - I do not understand Tom's lack of communication - especially with those who have standing orders, or those wishing to place orders. (Bashing my head against the wall)

Not a very effective way to run a business! May have to look into getting a printer and doing decals myself. "If you want anything done, do it yourself" ..true, very true

I've had good results in past with delivery before checks cleared! Had good communicaton with him this time before ordered decals, check has cleared, but have seen nor heard nothing from him and has been over a month I believe. Now the way my health has went this Fall I couldn't have used them anyway, and my health is an often repeat, so am hoping hear from him soon as have always had good experience with him. And if was to be bad result so be it as is only money and life is getting shorter with each day. Sure will let you know when hear from gent.

Unfortunate for those that tried. Nice if it would have turned out. I don't order many, but this thread may help some, sounds like Oddball is out, boy it must be true. Odd man out!

    Re: Odd Ball Decals

All this is a shame, as Tom's Oddballs decals really work well. Was using some last weekend along with some Walthers and Microscale decals - Tom's are as good as any.

I'm glad I ordered a bunch of them before all this started. I still have all the Oddballs Frisco and QAP decals in my inventory save for the two steam sets - which another frisco.org member is using as we speak.

Im not sure if this would be effective, but all of you who have sent money and received nothing in return, I would place a call with the better business bureau or an investigative reporter. Either way, sounds like someone needs to force this mans hand at coming clean, or, coughing back up some dough, or at least, the very least, filling paid orders, then getting out of the business. I am sure an alps printer is costly, and losing oddballs decals would be detrimental to our hobby, but, if someone dedicated and worthy of doing so might take on a nice retirement venture and make a killing off of all of us FRISCO BUFFS!!!!! we need decals, but the way this thread reads, it is SAD....JUST SAD that we have then danglin in front of our noses like a steak in front of a lion, just out of our reach!!!!

Have called Directory Assistance and no one has a current telephone for him, nor can figure out the location of his provided address. Directory Assistance has no listing for name or business. Grandview Trainstore has no information on him save DO NOT SEND MONEY. I lost $50 with him so figure he is one with monkey on his back. He had a God Given skill and when was cooperative was hard to get along with but provided in a timely manor an excellent product. Looks like he can still get a check to the bank so can get around?
