    Hi Y'all,

I need some help and I'm hoping y'all will step up and lend a hand.

For all basic purposes, I do not have a train shop here in San Antonio that carries much to about anything of real building materials and tools. I need to get everything again, from a Dremel to an airbrush and compressor; with everything in between.

I've looked on eBay, and I know of Micro-Mark, but with MM, it seems like they are a little high on the price tags.

So where on the internet do y'all go to get your tools and building supplies?

Thank you so much for sharing.

    Manny

I shop Walthers online quite a bit. Never had a bad experience. Prices are fair in my opinion.

Thanks Jim. I thought about doing that too. How do you find their supplies?

Manny, many of the small tools I have picked up at the train shows from the Tool Man. I also have picked some up at the local woodworking show (there's been a surplus dealer selling small tools the last two years). Other tools I have picked up from Lowes and Home Depot. There are, of course, specialized modeling tools that one can only get from a hobby shop or supplier.

I recommend Micro Mark. They have a website with literally everything you will need and lots of things you won't need.

Here here. My first MicroMark purchase was a set of pounce wheels for embossing rivets. I have dreams of winning a large shopping spree there someday. :)

For what it's worth, we have a Harbor Freight Tools storefront in town where I've found some useful hobby tools at a reasonable price.

    Best Regards,

I have to confess that I buy most of my stuff from Walthers online catalog. I also support my local hobby shop. The shop owner and I go way back to when we were both kids and his mom and dad ran the store back in the late '60's and early '70's. He doesn't carry a lot of stuff "on hand" but orders it from Cleveland Hobby (wholesale distributor). Another source you might try for good deals is: www.internettrains.com

    Happy Thanksgiving,
    George

I purchase from the Tool Man when I find him at a swap meet, but the vast majority of my tools have come from Micro-Mark over the last forty years. I now have just about everything in their catalog, and the local hobby shop is a Mirco-Mark dealer.

Besides the several hobby shops here in KC, I mail order from modeltrainstuff.com (M. B. Klien). They have a great web site with up to the minute inventory, and good if not great pricing.
