What a blast from the past! Thanks to Ken, I stole some old Main Line Models Frisco kits and here's how the cattle car turned out. First let me say that these kits are as old as I am which is 51. The instruction sheet is yellowed and the construction techniques are a bit dated but it was fun to build. I have some more finishing touches to add including the couplers but this is pretty much how it's going to look. The build date appears to be 8-16. I won't bore you with construction details but here's some photos that I hope you will enjoy. Now I need to model the livestock pen and loading ramp at Brownwood and put this car to work!
It is a very good job of modeling, Jim, and I am also amused at the cattle showing wary interest in the car. It is almost as if they suspect they know its intended purpose. I can hear them saying "eat more chkn". Terry
I used to enjoy building those Main Line kits. Silver Streak had nice kits also. Back in the good old days. I still have some cars that I built back then.
Wow, Jim, you are fast! Agree with Don - those kits back then were fun to build. I built the Frisco Main Line kits like the ones you now have (don't think I did the stock car, but for sure did the auto car and the 40ft box), plus I built Silver Streak's Frisco box car and three-window caboose, plus a MP drover's caboose (now in Frisco colors), and a Rock Island caboose. I still have the four Silver Streaks, all still in service. Ken ps - I never noticed the car number on the Main Line stock car. Wow!
