Jim, I'm elated to see some modeling work from you - very nice. Is this a module or more of a layout, similar to Zalma/Brownwood?

Steve, can't wait to hear/see what your Collinsville project for 2019 will be.

Have actually been getting some workbench work done. Will try to get updates this evening.

    Best Regards,

  7. Thanks Chris. I can clue you in and ask for help from anyone here at the same time. If any of you ever saw the yellow snub nose GMC semi with the flatbed trailer that was around the Springfield yard I am building that. If anyone has pictures they would be willing to share I would sure appreciate it!! Also if anyone has pictures of the red Freightliner yard spotter trucks that is another upcoming project. Thanks

Steve, just saw your interview with the RPM show. Great job!!! Good luck with your new projects. We're sitting on pins and needles for your updates on modeling. Are you done yet? lol

  9. Thanks Joe!! Glad you liked it. Quick but always fun with Ken. With a little luck it will happen again next year with a Frisco truck.

Ha, not quite yet joe. I have started though. I will keep this thread updated.

A few things here and there. I lack Steve's discipline to work on one thing at a time. From left to right:
    • Ex ATSF caboose has paint stripped, roofwalk detail removed with mounting holes plugged, molded grabs shaved, toolbox removed.
    • Drilling holes in OB-boxcar for ladder grabs.
    • A wee bit of work on an old IHC Pacific that I've been working on for a very, very long time.
    • Finished interior bracing on Tichy hopper (doesn't show up well in this photo)
To do for next week: try to clean the workbench and workshop. Also work on improving tabletphotography skills.

I've been on vacation, then catching up at work, school starting, etc., so not much modeling recently, but I worked on some Arduino projects this week.
I built an Arc Welder for a friend on a Pro Mini, then built one for myself. I installed it under the layout, with the LEDs under a building:

I saw this video on YouTube, so decided to copy the program, then modified it for 10 LED streetlights:

I was able to figure out how to get it to work with multiple LEDs, then to turn them on in order. I'm trying to "fade" the LEDs--build up to full brightness--but I still need to work the kinks out.

Nice work Gary!!! What type of LED's did you use? I need to buy several LED's for the buildings and to set up a demonstration using the timer I built.

I had a bag of white LEDs I used for the mockup on the breadboard. I can't remember where I got them from, maybe eLED? I was experimenting to see if I could get it to work. I'll use an Arduino Pro Mini for the layout, and I let my daughter pick out some LED streetlights:

Nice, Gary- have always enjoyed lighting effects/night effects on a layout.

If nothing else, everyone's modeling efforts is at least motivating me to do something, which inevitably will surely result in an improvement to my modeling skills.

You need Davy Crockett on the roof playing the fiddle. Ha Ha, very nice, is that a kit bash?

Thanks. It’s a resin kit from Showcase Miniatures.

    Frisco Friends,

My offering for this week.....three crossovers mostly done. Still awaiting ties, but should be here in time for next week. The original one that I posted had to be reworked a bit. I have learned to do the diverging stock rails last, fitting against the frogs and aligning the point rail notch more precisely. One more LH and one more RH to do for the layout and then I should have some track-laying updates.

  20. Those switches are great!

Here is mine from the table this week, for the same guy I have been painting freight cars for. Some TOFC loads. Fun because they all started the same color.
