Hi Y'all, I was thinking, and just for giggles, decided to post up. Let's say that the Frisco never merged with BN. Lets say she was a viable Class I today, fully functioning and back at the height of her power. What would her locomotives look like today? Here's a chance for us to play around a little bit. Whether it is a modern box car on steroids (diesel) or rolling stock, what do you think they would look like? Let's have some fun. I would like to see what y'all come up with.
I've thought about modeling a "contemporary" Frisco some in the past, but I so dislike current-day railroading, I gave it up. I can, however, imagine a black and yellow striped lash-up of today's diesels, striped like the SL-SF's GP-35's, but with "NEW FRISCO" in the match-stick lettering with a slight slant and a restored pair of fire engine red "executive" E-8's in full racehorse striped scheme...
Frisco testing SD60 series units. in the early 90's Frisco has decided to test the SD60's with and without radial trucks. Should be a slow quiet trip tonight as the hoghead has instructions from the Road Forman to islolate the lead unit and let the big EMD's do the work. On the train are 16 QA&P Dupont overhauls. This train starts in the departure track #3 in the Main yard. 50 cars, 40', climbing Eastward on the 1 1/2% around nincompoop loop and thru Lazar. There is no doubt these units are at max tonnage and lots of sand. I too detest the job sometimes, I have been off pretty much for 2 yrs,(off duty injury). And have discovered there is life other than RRing and other than the operations and recovery and all, it has been eye opening, like getting used to sleeping at night in my own bed, I forgot what it was like. Regards, Tom Holley
Wouldn't it be nice if the BNSF did what the UP was doing, by painting their modern diesels (yuck, I can't believe I just said that) in the paint schemes of their fallen flag acquisitions? It would be cool to see a 70 all decked out in Frisco Red and White! Or even the Texas Special Speed...
