This past Saturday 6/18, Mark Davidson (mark), KC local model railroad legend Chuck Hitchcock (Chuck Hitchcock), and I had the distinct pleasure of operating on the Kansas City West Bottoms themed free-lance Frisco Terminal layout of Jay Cox (ayerox). It was definitely worth 10 hours of drive time. We spent 4 1/2 hours immersed in an excellently conceived and constructed switching layout, beautifully detailed, set in the early diesel era of the Frisco. All of the locomotives sported SoundTraxx Tsunami sound and were set up with the braking function. My hat is off to Jay for a wonderfully done railroad and a great operating experience that I hope to repeat many more times. Attached are some rather hastily taken photos. My apologies to Jay for not really doing justice to his work with my photos.
Like I said, Andre, hastily taken. 1) I got so wrapped up in looking when I first got there, I forgot to take pictures; I forgot my iPhone was in my van. 2) I had so much fun operating that I did not think about stopping to take pictures. 3) I remembered about pictures just before we were getting ready to go. I promise, next time, more and better pictures.
Very inspiring, Keith. I have to stay that I've spent part of my return-from-vacation day starting to "finish" the layout room so that I can progress more on my own layout. Now I come across this and it's working to motivate me further. Is the CB&Q map a "MAP OF THE WEST?" It looks virtually identical - and in much better condition - to one that I have hanging in my office at work. Best Regards,
Wonderful work on the layout, Jay. I need to see layouts like this to get out of my armchair and into layout-building mode. I look forward to seeing more from either you or Keith or others. Do you have a layout plan or sketch that you could post? Best Regards,
