Hey folks, been awhile. I guess I've got the summer time slumps. Can't get my mojo going. I've a Westerfield kit waiting to be built and a Zalma module to build and I just can't get things off the ground. Am I alone on this? I need some inspiration. Let's see some of ya'lls recent work.

Summer slump is here. I just finished sans decals a harriman baggage and rpo for my Black Gold Passenger train and I started with the Rounhouse kits back in 1985. I bought Central Valley wheelsets and could not get the kits and wheels together at the same time till last month when FriscoMike encourage me to finish it up for operations at the TWMRC. mktjames

I haven't been doing much either. I purchased two loco's just over a month ago and just now getting around to getting them hard wired. One of them I still need 2 wire up the lights.

Maybe I should at least make the base for my Zalma module to get things jumpstarted. I've got a 4 x 8 sheet of 2" insulation foam just waiting for me in the basement. At least I'm not alone in these summer time modeling slumps.

Aye aye, captain. I'd laid a good deal of track prior to our vacation, but I'd rather stagnated since then. However, with the kids gone with the grandparents on their roadtrip and my wife hosting a gathering of friends this week, I had a good 4-5 hours alone in the layout room. Did some rolling stock and track weathering, and worked on buildings for Olathe.

That reinvigorated me; besides, if it's as hot in Girardeau as it is here, it's not fit to do much outside. So really, I had no other options. ;) You owe it to your well-being to stay in and do some modeling, Jim!

Seems like a good time to get a sampling of what's on the workbenches of other CEOs. Fire away.

    Best Regards,

Good advice, Chris! Besides, I owe my Zalma depot a good module to live on. I'm feeling my my mojo gearing up.

Somewhat of a "Frisco" related slump for me... but I find that with the soaring summer temperatures... I tend to spend my free time inside in the A/C. That lends itself well to hobby projects. Right now it's some S scale projects and some 1/32 slot car projects. Oh... and net surfing! (Like browsing this forum!)

Been more like summer slammed here in GJ with all the flood related re-routes we been crazy busy thru here. Haven't had a chance to even open the door on the MRR barn much less do any modeling. I am trying to put together a modelers tool box that can be taken to the AFHT to build stuff. Using a tackle box as a start and adding stuff as needed, lets see another set of drill bits, paints, glues, (excessive sniffing could help with the extended held away times);)

Funny, Tom. I have a tackle box for my tools as well but ended up with my most used tools put in a cardboard box that held frozen corn dogs. Go figure.

I found this nifty little tool box at Home Depot a year or two ago. It has a compartment built into the lid for small parts that you don't want thrashing around the box, a lift out tray for small tools and a open area below for large tools and kit boxes. And best of all, it costs $5.00. Not sure if they have any these days but this has to go down as one of my best buys ever.

Now that is cool stuff, Rick.
Did they have one with a hopper or flat in it? :D

Mine came with a four pack of Proto 2000 CR gons. I even put three of 'em together last week. I don't remember any with flats or hoppers in them.

No summer slump for me. Life is too short . . . . :D
