My name is Gary Davis. I was born and raised in Springfield, MO. I attended Central High School, Southwest Missouri State and Missouri School of Mines (now Missouri Science & Technology) at Rolla, MO. After college I accepted a position with the U.S. Navy at China Lake, CA. My father worked for the Frisco for many years as a machinest at the shops just off Kansas Avenue in Springfield. For 2 summers while attending college I worked for the Frisco as an Electrician Apprentice. I have rode the Frisco many times between Springfield and Kansas City (got off at Peculiar) or St. Louis. Feel free to contact me.|-|
Welcome Gary. Lots of MSM/UMR/MoS&T grads in frisco.org. I'm one of the old birds - BS Chemical Engineering, 1964 (last graduating class from MSM). I always was a railroad lover as both my father and grandfather took me train watching here in StL a lot as a kid (they both liked the Wabash), but it was my time in Rolla that caused me to realize what a neat railroad the Frisco was and it was there that I became a life-long SLSF fan. I graduated MSM in 1957, BS EE. There used to be a Frisco museum in Springfield - do you know what happed to it, where all the Frisco "items" they had ended up. Are there still Frisco items you can purchase? Where? Also, for general info I am a custom picture framer - my speciality is fishing flies.
The Frisco Museum was mis-managed, went bankrupt and then went out of business, the collection was sold to pay off the debts. Quite a lot of the collecion has been dontated to Missouri State University ar Springfield. Tom G.
