I have noticed that some posts have been done in all red. In paragraph sized quantities, that is hard on my eyes and maybe yours too. I wonder if it equal to all caps (screaming). I hope that all future posts only highlight words in red and not the entire tome. Otherwise, I will skip over the all red posts to save my aging eyes.

How come the posts are red anyway?? Does the poster do that? I see bold, Italic and underlined as choices, don't see red...

The red (now changed to brown) was to point out that there was nothing in the post that was in any way related to the thread topic.

Additionally, particularly verbose posts are becoming tiring based on the feed back that I have been getting via PMs from many users.

Long posts are fine as long a as they are 1) On topic or 2) are related directly to the thread topic.

If you look at the possibilities in the post composition box, next to the Sizes pull down, the capital letter A has a pull down next to it. If you click on the arrowed end, you can select font color.

I only used red ink (now brown) and all caps to emphasis certain words in one post on one thread. I did not go in and change other posts to red (now brown also) as that was done by another forum member who identified himself at the bottom of the threads he changed. Both of us were trying to stess a point which is the real issue here which is not red lining, capitalization, etc.

So the the red is a "moderator" thing, right?

Thanks. I wasn't interested in using the red lettering, just wondering how, why, who.

No Tom it wasn't. You or anyone else has the option to use colored lettering, caps, bold, italics, etc.

Thanks for the clarification on the red lettering. Going to ignore that from now on.

Personally, I felt honored to get my name in red!

While being a devoted Frisco fan, I am still a people. I wanted the Rip Track so members could have a place to discuss matters not directly related to Frisco subjects. Why go to some stange site in order to chat with fellow Frisco members? No one would have been required to visit the Rip Track. I am aware that it, like many other threads, would have been subject to moderation, thus costing additional time devoted to keeping the Frisco subjects on track.

Anyway, I have gotten so tired of eating crow, I am doing my best to stay on track with subject matter. Hope it shows.

For what it's worth, as classroom trainers, we've always been requested to avoid using red or green colors on flip charts, PowerPoints, etc., since upwards of 10% of males have red-green color blindness. Not a huge deal unless you are trying to train someone on something where they need to make sure that they "get it," in order to competently and confidently do a task or a job.

Red Green Color Blindness could also explain why one can get so many answers to the question "What is Mandarin Orange," or "Were Frisco steam locomotive cabs oxide red or not?" :)

    Best Regards,
