Does anyone remember seeing these? I bought mine in 1978 and I still use it. I remember how it seemed like space age electronics back then. I don't think I will ever have a layout big enough to justify DCC. Thought you folks would enjoy this photo of ancient technology. Jim J

Hey Jim--I'm the JANITOR at the "Old School!" I still have my Troller--wish I had a couple more. That DCC stuff is witchcraft far as I'm concerned!

    Tom

    PS: Your layout is magnificent!

I run my layout with two TechII controllers I bought in the 1980s, and use block wiring. Electronically, I'm stuck in the 60s.

I was just on eBay trying to find some of those older power packs either like yours or the TechII great power packs. My N scale equipment is older units and I don't want to take the time to upgrade them to DCC

Besides somebody has to keep the old stuff alive and well :)

How big is your layout? As you can see in a post by me last night, my Ho scale layout was a mere 4' wide and only 5'4" in. long when I got DCC a few weeks ago. But now I finally have a 4x8 layout.

Thank God that there are still folks around like You Guys. :)
Outside of the 110-220 volt range, I am screwed.
DCC to me would be like the transition from reciprocating to jet engines all over again. :D

I have lamented the fact that I do not have DCC on my layout as of yet. However, after looking over your posts here, I can see that I can be proud to be a member of the 'Old School'. I'll spin the dial on my Tech II and hold my head high.

frisco modeler hopfuly, My Greenbrier module is 6' x 18" but I have a 4x8 that I use for a testing ground for scenery techniques and rolling stock. I haven't posted in a while but I'm back. I've scratchbuilt an HO scale union gunboat "Carondelet" and have backdated a Bachmann 4-4-0 Oldtimer to replicate a US Military RR loco and I'm making a module of Cairo, IL waterfront circa 1863. I think I get more kicks outta building modules or dioramas than an entire layout. It's good to be back on the forum. Jim

When any of you Frisco guys are in KC, please let me know so we can schedule a layout tour of the Northern Division. With enough notice, I could probably whip up an operating session.

Not trying to talk you out of your power pack/DC system. but it would be nice to meet everyone and run some trains.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

I had one of those Troller Momentum hand held/walkaround. Loved it. Wore it out... rebuilt it and ran it some more. I found a new one many years ago when I had my old Frisco layout and intended to wire it up too... but didn't. I still have the new one (and the old one) up in the attic somewhere.
