    Folks,

We are getting an ice storm in Maine and that (coupled with being sick) may cause me to not be available for support issues for a bit. The last time we had this sort of thing about three years ago, we were without power for four days. I live out in the woods and that doesn't help. We hope not to lose power but it is almost a foregone conclusion if we get ice. So, if I am not around to answer any support requests or e-mail, that's the reason.

    Thanks and sorry,

    Charlie

Power just came back on. Not sure for how long. Plus, I had to go to the ER today. I have a upper respiratory infection. :(

The power is off again where I live due to massive ice damage. Our power is provided by a small cooperative and they said they do not know when it will be back on. It could be two or three days unless some miracle occurs.

As such, I cannot check my e-mail. I write this from work (which has a generator) but e-mail is blocked so I can't answer any site-related e-mail.

Other than that, still battling the sinus infection. :(

    Merry Christmas. :)

My heart goes out to you and others in your situation due to the ice storm. I love my trees, and I hate to see the tree damage (also lost our power for four hours early on Sunday morning) due to the ice storm that hit Tulsa. While this storm was bad it was not even in the same category of the ice storm that hit us in 2007. I was sitting at East Tulsa on 467, the evening road switcher, when it hit. The power switches could not be thrown, ctc was out, and trees were blocking the tracks in places. We were there several hours waiting for an inbound train, and while sitting there a large bushy tree in front of us slowly laid over to the point that maintenance of way employees had to remove it before we could move. We finally made it to Tiger with our train and hog lawed. That was night number one of the ice storm. Another round hit the next evening, and I couldn't get out to go to work because a large limb had broken off and blocked my drive way (same thing happened this time also). That ice storm devastated the urban forest in Tulsa, and many trees still show the effects of it. I hope you get over your sinus infection soon.

    Merry Christmaas to you, Terry

We had ice covering our trees here in Muskogee, and I kept looking worriedly at one limb that had broken off in our elm tree and was draping itself over our electrical line. By some miracle (divine Providence?), it fell on over and destroyed part of our dog-run fence. No loss there- the fence is coming out come spring. The only good thing about this is was while it WAS raining, the ground was still warm enough so that there was no ice buildup, so driving to work was just a manner of dodging the larger puddles. The last big ice storm I went thru was ST. Patrick's Day 1984 in Topeka- several areas of town were without power for up to two weeks, and every vacant lot in the city had downed limbs and cut-up trees. As a side note, December 1984 set a record for the number of live births in Topeka.........

Personally, I've been thru several ice storms in my lie, and if I never see another one, I won't be disappointed.

Even though you're in a bit of a pickle up there, here's Christmas wishes to you & yours.
