My name is Jim Dodson I was very happy to find this board. My grandfather, Earl B. Spain, started with Frisco in the 20's and held every job that you could. In the end he was Yard Master at Monett. He was also Yardmaster in Tulsa in the 40's, so I have Frisco in my blood. My fondest memories was the start of summer and taking the train from Tulsa to Monett.
Welcome aboard, Jim. I model the late teens and early 20s when your grandpa was just getting started.
Jim, Welcome Aboard! My father-in-law, Harold Arnold, lived in Monett and sorted mail on RPO cars between Monett and St. Louis until the mail service ended. No doubt he met/knew your grandfather.
Jim, welcome my grandfather worked in the Monett shops and then moved with the shops to Springfield. I hired out with SLSF in 1970 as a trackman. William Jackson
