True that. However, we'd then renew the age-old question of "should the cab roofs be black or oxide?" :)

You Frisco steam mavens have the same issue with the color of the cab roofs on Frisco steam locomotives. Black, red, what shade of red, etc.

None of self self painted Frisco diesels look the same. All are a different shade of reddish orange or a orangeish red. The prototype relfects this too. The key is weathering. If it's too orange weather it dark which will bring out the red. If too red weather it with a light color to bring out the orange.

In my opinion the best color match ever made was Floquil Socony Red. Ethan you were probably learning to walk when this was discontinued...to bad for you

Badger Frisco Orange is a good match.

50-50 mix of Floquil Laquer SP Scarlet and Daylight Orange works well if you prefer the Orange look.

I'm old school. I paint laquer. I use the above formula for the first coat. Let it dry and then adjust either way for what I consider the correct color match. The last coat winds up being 75% red and 25% orange

A paleish red is better than orange...photos will prove that.

"carry on my wayword son" and best of luck to you

Model Master makes "Chevrolet Engine Red" .. which is what GM started with.
