I just snagged a copy of Joe Collias' "Frisco Power" steam book off eBay! Has the dust jacket too.

Been lusting for one of these for a while. Finally found one in good shape and took a shot at it... and got it!

    Hooray for me!! :D

Good deal, Andre! Joe's Frisco Power is one of the best "required" books in a Frisco library ..... Collias, Marre/Harper, Marre/Sommers, Molo, Stagner, McCall/Schultz, etc. There are other good ones as well, but these are the biggies!

    Ken:

I've got Frisco books by most of those authors... but what Frisco books did Molo, Stagner, and McCall/Shultz produce?

    Steve:

You DON'T want to know what I gave for it. Let's just say I'm tickled pink at the price. :p

    Andre -

    o N. Molo - Frisco/Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment, 2003

o L. Stagner - Steam Locomotives of the Frisco Line, 1976 (the FIRST decent Frisco book)

    o J. McCall/F. Schultz - Frisco Southwest, 1982

All well worth having! Keep looking at eBay, the Stagner book is seen often, both hardback and paperback, and the Molo book also shows up now and then. It muight still be available new from Morning Sun. McCall/Schultz is hard to find.

    Ken

ps - For SLSF Eastern Division lovers, some other favorites are the four paperback books about Newburg by Mary Alice Beemer. Light reading, but neat.

The first railroad book I ever bought was Stagner's book. Growing up I had no contact with the Frisco, but that book generated an interest.

Another must-have, if you can find it, is Banwart:

    Author: Banwart, Donald D.
Title: Rails, rivalry, and romance : a review of Bourbon County,
Kansas, and her railroad nostalgia in words and pictures,
1864 thru 1980, including the dramatic railroad
construction race to the Indian Territory border / by
    Donald D. Banwart.
Publisher: Historic Preservation Association of Bourbon County],
    Place: [Fort Scott, Kan. :
    Date: c1982.

The Birmingham book, Birmingham Rails the Last Golden Era, by Marvin Clemons & Lyle Key is also a keeper.

And we can't forget Edmund Keilty's Interurbans Without Wires - a wealth of gas electric info.

    Others that are totally Frisco:

    - L. Stagner, Frisco Steam Finale, 1995, soft cover

    - Midwest Railroader books, The Frisco and Steam, 1982, soft cover (rare!)

    - D. Hofsommer, The Quanah Route, 1991

    - W. Bain, Frisco Folks, 1961 (hey, it's about the Frisco!)

    - C. Miner, The St Louis-San Francisco Transcontinental Railroad, 1972. A history.
