This last weekend my family and I were in the historic town of TOMBSTONE ARIZONA, and we were almost ready to wrap up for the day and go home and down behind the HELLDORADO theme park sits FRISCO CABOOSE #129. 3 window wooden sided. I think it may be one Exactly like the american Model Builders Kits. I took some pictures of her as she is getting pretty worn down and in a moderate stage of ill repair. But our GRAND OLD |-| and all other lettering are clearly visible on both sides. And she will now live on on my layout, I have 6 of the AMB Kits and will be building and painting one to match the pics I took!!!

I took some pictures and will post them as soon as I can get them off my camera. I just wanted to throw it out there that I didnt expect to see our Beloved FRISCO sitting out in the middle of NOWHERE in the Tombstone Arizona Territory.

Well here she sits everyone!!! Not in the best of shape, but I was just informed by a friend that the bullet holes in her sides are REAL bulletholes from days gone by and they are wanting to restore this one, Looks like it might make it back to good condition.

Sorry it took me so long, unfortunately the pictures I TOOK did not turn out AT ALL so my friend Kirk Oppermann took several for me and I just received them and so there you have em. Now we know our Beloved FRISCO is still out there!!!!!!

    Will,

SLSF 129 was built in the Springfield shops in the Fall of 1946. Frisco built, steel frame and underframe, wood side, end cupola with straight side steel cupola.

In October, 1974, the caboose was moving light from Joplin to Carl Junction, MO when it was involved in a fatal grade crossing accident while moving north across Fir Road. The resulting damage which was very minor, was reason for Frisco to take the caboose out of service. It was retired 10/1974.

It was purchased in 1975 by Jim Stone, a restauranteur, of Joplin, MO and displayed next to the Rafters Restaurant at 20th and Rangeline Road until the early 1980's. It was then moved to the Stone's home in Webb City on north Rangeline Road across from Connie's Antiques.

It was purchased by Jeff Cooney in 1997. A job relocation to Lindsay, TX resulted in Jeff selling it in 2007 to James Clark of Tombstone, AZ. Loaded 3/19/2007 by Smith & Chambers RR haulers for movement to AZ. It is to be made into a room at a caboose themed bed and breakfast.

The caboose is located at 339 S. 4th St., Tombstone, Cochise County, AZ.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Bruce,

SLSF 703 is a Frisco built, steel frame and underframe, wood side, end cupola with slant side wood cupola.

This caboose is located on north side of highway in front of a private residence approximately 0.4 miles wast of the intersection of Paso Del Pueble Norte (a/k/a New Mexico Highway 522) and U.S. Highway 64. This is east of the Taos Regional Airport. Caboose was formerly located at a private residence in Pittsburg, KS.

The caboose is located at 2494 U.S. Hwy 64, Taos, Taos County, NM.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Frisco caboose 129 in days gone by. I did a lot of research in to the artwork and was pretty proud of how it ended up looking. Jeff

I did. I owned this caboose until we left Joplin, MO and moved to Texas.
