Let's start a collection of all the variations of Frisco heralds, logos, monograms and slogans artwork that we can find. Here's the first batch of what I have.
Jim, I believe the FriscoLine coonskin is the oldest variant. I am open for correction by any of our local experts.
Keith Robinson's statement that the Frisco Line Coonskin logo is the oldest is correct. I bought a T shirt at the Frisco Museum that had images of the logos and dates. Frisco Line - 1896-1901 (Frisco exited receivership in 1896) Frisco System - 1901-1904 Frisco - 1905-1910 Frisco Lines - 1910-1937 Frisco Lines - with St Louis -San Francisco Ry. panel underneath - 1938-1947 Frisco - 1947-1980 - The word Frisco in this version is slightly thinner and taller than the Frisco depicted in the 1905-1910 version. I cannot be sure if they are different or identical as perhaps the Frisco Museum made changes. From 1881 to 1896 the railroad used a text Frisco Line . Please see attachment ca 1881. The Frisco logo did not change during the 1890-1896 period of control by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (ATSF) nor during the period 1903 to December 1909 when it was controlled by a syndicate that included the Frisco, Chicago and Eastern Illinois (C&EI) and Rock Island. Arranged by Time Period 1896-1901 - Frisco Line - Frisco exited receivership in 1896 1901-1904 - Frisco System 1905-1910 - Frisco 1910-1937 - Frisco Lines 1938-1947 - Frisco Lines - with St Louis -San Francisco Ry. panel underneath 1947-1980 - Frisco - The word Frisco in this version is slightly thinner and taller than the Frisco depicted in the 1905-1910 version. Will this list include the subsidiaries Alabama, Tennessee and Northern (AT&N) and Quanah, Acme and Pacific (QA&P)? Were there others? I memory serves me well, there was a coonskin herald with Quanah Route. The Quanah also had some GARX boxcars with the slogan "The Transcontinental Cut-Off". Always liked that one! Joe Toth
