I am researching my family and I have three relatives that worked for Frisco during the first half of the 1900's. I am trying to find information on their employment and was hoping someone can point me to a resource that I might contain such information.

    JW -
Welcome aboard. On the main portal page, look for the "Springfield Library Collections." There is a section for Frisco employee cars with various search fields. While not all old Frisco employee cards have been digitized, it's a good start.

    Hello, JW,
The link I pasted here is a link to the Springfield Public Library. They have many old employee cards there. Some of my McGilvry family names are in those card files.
Good luck, don't hesitate to ask for any help here. This site is full of folks that want to help in any way they can.
    Best regards,
    Dan

looks like everyone has the same idea!

But sadly, some of us (me) had not had enough coffee to think clearly enough to actually post the link. :) Thanks for including, Dan.

A better source for possible family member information is the Springfield -Greene County Library website listing of Frisco Employees magazines that often contain interesting info accessible by using the search function. The Frisco employee card records are not a complete listing.
    Good luck !

Charlie, apparently I need more coffee and/or sleep. :)

As a true Frisco fan, I felt that I should try to see "The Meteor" shower last night. After being up for an hour and a half last night and getting up with the dogs at their usual wake-up time, I'm apparently feeling the effects of sleep deprivation.

Tom, good suggestion. I've run across a lot of names of retirees I remember as a kid in those magazines.

    Best Regards,

OGS Genealogy Workshop: "Working on the Railroad." If your ancestor worked for a railroad there may be records about their employment and family. Library staff member Renee Glass will show you how to determine if an ancestor was a railroad worker and where the records might be located. Wednesday, May 28, 9:30 a.m. at The Library Center.

Are there employee records somewhere that have not been digitized? I have many family members who worked for Frisco.

Melody, I don't believe there is much available in the way of employee records aside from the links or sources already cited. The company generally did not keep such information, especially when assimilated into the BN.

Is there a place where you are able to see what is in the Frisco Employees Magazine. To date I have found 15 relatives that have worked for Frisco. My great grandfather who was a baggage man who died in a train crash in 1892. Another family the Hall family who between father and brothers together worked 185 years for Frisco. I was impressed with the company when my great grandfather died working for them... they gave his wife a job in the Springfield Frisco Office. They took care of that young wife and her child. You mean searchable? I don't believe so.

The digital FEM's in the the Springfield-Greene County have a very rudimentary search engine, and searches for simple character strings are possible. The search results are presented for each PDF file. Each issue exists as a large single file; the library also produced each issue in smaller (5 page) pdf files. This means that each character string will produce at a minimum of two results. Once you have the results list, you'll have to open the PDF and perform a command f or a control f (depending upon your platform). This will allow you to search the pdf file for the character string that you need. It's not very elegant but it does the trick. The FEM's are treasures for those interested in the Frisco between the early 1900's and the 1930's.
