Wonder what the set is really worth. The reserve was not met at $1800+. Mike

It must not be worth $1800, except to its' current owner.

I mean I'd buy one if I modeled in HO scale. Money would be no object. But there's no hope of ever getting a decent Texas Special in N scale. And there will probably never be an affordable TS in any scale! BUT, there are plenty of Chiefs and Zephyrs and doofy M-10000's and Hiawathas all over the place...

I turned the internet upside down trying to find a price or value for this set and found nothing

When originally released the 6-car set sold for about $900 and individual cars went for about $150. The price isn't out of line.

I purchased the 6 car set plus the 2 locomotives for $1200 about 4 years ago.

For collectors, it isn't, but for us po' folks it's flat-out crazy. But hey, if you're a brass collector, I'm ok with it.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind an Overland Frisco crummy or two, if the price is right.;)

    You got that right.........lol................

Now, if I were getting some N scale Fridco goodies, she'd lay out the Shiner and nachos (she's in Texas, y'all) for Santa.

I like the Chiefs but I couldn't agree more. What are you going to do with a turbo train...crash into Thomas for your nephew?

Some people will just dream on at what it is really worth. The MP Colorado Eagle set from coach Yard last year was 4500.00. This set does not even come close to the detail and quality.

I would say that the 1800 price was more than fair for this, but the seller
was probably thinking 3K. This was the HMM set from 1980's the paint is not that good--no interior, not even painted inside. OMI sets are the best for now in HO scale.

The Meteor set that Overland produced a couple of years ago, for the same eight cars and two locomotives, sold new for about $4,000 and while it is far superior to the Hallmark models, if the seller on ebay had a reserve at $2,000 or less he was probably not too far out of line. The fact that it didn't sell does say something though . . .

Darn, he beat me to the punch. I have a 4500.1 I'm going to post. I'll see how this one goes.

    Don -

No doubt that these new Glacier Park Frisco 4500's look terrific! How well do they run? I've not heard any comments on that aspect of the GP model.

Given the total success GP had with these models - do you think they would have an interest in doing a series of Frisco 1500's?
