Is there a Frisco system map showing all divisions within the system map? I am in need of the Eastern division St. Louis - Springfield. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. John|-|
I have always had a problem keeping all the Frisco divisions and subs straight in my mind, mainly because over time they kept changing them. I always just use the first map Karl posted, the 1977 color-coded one, and stick with it as it best covers the time when I was most interested and most involved with the railroad. Just for the heck of it, attached is a map of what the Atlantic & Pacific RR, had it come to fruition, might have looked like, instead of it evolving into the SLSF, ATSF and other roads. Ken
That would also be a map from my collection... for more of the story behind that map, see the threads below. http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?5785-Joint-ATSF-SL-SF-PTT-Nov-1911 http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?4247-St-Louis-and-SAN-FRANSISCO&highlight=avard
Karl - Thanks, I didn't remember where that map came from. I saw it when I was seeing if I had the 1977 map you posted on file (yes). Would have been a heck of a system. But, the Frisco we had was pretty nice! K
John Harper gave a ninety minute presentation on the Gulf Coast Lines Saturday evening. Everything plus that some folks would want to know about the New Orleans-Brownsville developments, but photos of Frisco motor cars running in the Brownsville area, early locos that got traded back and forth. Of course this was not a railroad out developing routes but syndicates of investors figuring out how to sell bonds and make money for themselves. All of the various corporate arrangements led to the Frisco losing this territory in the bankruptcy discussed in the previous threads Karl referenced.
