    Hey Y'all,

Today I received the majority of weathering pigments from Richard (Ben) at Dr. Ben's Scale Consortium. I have purchased quite a bit from them and have been very happy. My purchases have ranged from weathering materials, to building kits, to turntable pits, to small parts and informational booklets.

Richard is real keen on great customer service. You should check his web site out: www.debenllc.com.

I will be posting up on usage of his weathering pigments and stains here shortly as I will be completing my Heinz Pickle Salting Station sign. I chose his pigments because they are not hostile to my health issues and easy to use! Clean-up is with Iso-Alcohol.

Check out his web-site and give him a try. You won't be disappointed.

    Stay tuned for more details.

Can't wait to see some results. I love weathering models but I've never used products geared specifically towards it. Just cheap craft paint and an old stick of rust colored chalk. I need to check out that website.

    Hey Jim,

I was thinking about your Zalma Branch when I was looking at some of the pigments, mainly Muddy River Bottom and Pond Scum, because of your swamp, stream, and soon to be river. Many of the colors would work well with your branch line. It's just getting used to working with the medium and finding the best way to apply them.

If you (or anyone) talk to Ben, please make sure you mention that I talked about him and mention the web site here.

    Thanks,

    Manny

Here are first time results with Dr. Ben's. One coat of Basswood Stain, then a coat of Realistic Oak. Then after a few minutes, a coat of Instant Age. I think it turned out very good. Easy to apply. Easy cleanup with 91% or better Isopropyl Alcohol.

    More to come!
