    Hey Y'all,

Does anyone know when the first derailing mechanism was created? Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks,

I am responding, because I would like to see this one keep going. I looked back at some of my track book collection,, but derails go way back. I am not sure, split point derails, most likely date to the origin of railroads. Hinged derails go back further than my books. If anyone who has something way back, let it rip.

If you have any dates for split rail, or removable, I'd appreciate it.

BTW, I know this isn't Frisco, but here you can see how a split rail does work...

Those Split point derails work every time don't they? Hate when I do that.
