I am currently in the planning stages of a ho scale frisco layout. I would like to loosely base it off of the Cape, Chaffee, and Delta. Does anyone have pictures of Delta before they ripped the track out? And pictures of Chaffee in the late steam and diesel era? Thanks!
Hunter, I think you've picked a good locale; Delta itself would make a fascinating layout in sheer terms of interchanging with the MoP/Iron Mountain and SSW, although I don't know a lot about interchange volume in the era you've mentioned. While it's not pictures, there are some good maps and track charts on this thread: https://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/delta-mo-track-chart-or-track-plan-inquiry.1750/ And, there's a few pics of Chaffee steam in the following thread: https://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?forums/chaffee-subdivision.52/ It might take a while, but perusing some of the photos in the Steam Locomotives and Diesel Locomotives forum will undoubtedly turn up some good Chaffee photos, along with searching the "Frisco Archive" for Chaffee. Was just in Jackson last week - have quite a bit of family in and around Jackson, with my parents still in Chaffee. Best Regards,
I agree, this should be an interesting area to model. My go to source for track arrangements is here: https://www.historicaerials.com/viewer Type in any of the town names in the search bar, and then you can pick from old Topo maps and Aerial photos to look at. If you've got plenty of time to spare, I some times luck out with this source https://vintageaerial.com/photos/missouri It's a little trick to navigate, but worthwhile if you can find something. Also, what size of space do you have to work with?
My thread, Frisco River Division - Cape Girardeau Southwestern, has plenty of info about my layout project, and the thread Cape Girardeau, MO, St. Louis Subdivision, MP 131.3, has plenty of historical information about Cape Girardeau. The St Louis Subdivision sub-forum has more threads that are relevant. The Hoxie Subdivision sub-forum will cover things west of Nash.
