I dont mean to beat a dead horse ever. But I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any decal sets out there (DORIC STRIPES AND NUMBERS) for a FRISCO 4-8-2 1500 series locomotive. I have currently 2 sets of the doric stripe sets from CHAMP, but, alas they are about 15 years old and I am not too certain they would even work anymore. Can anyone tell me if ODDBALL would have them, or any other source to get the decals I need? I also need BLACK NUMBERS for 2 tenders for my 4-8-4 4500 series engines. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!!!
I have some old CHAMP Doric Stripes, but FYI, I am in the process of having brand new Doric Stripe Sets made up. ETA: 4-6 weeks.
ODDBALL is history, no one has received any satisfaction from Tom in over two years. I would try eBay or Micro Scale. George
Ohhh, perhaps a more consistant source of Frisco decals? Woo Hoo. In the meantime, ever considered the possibility of getting some decal paper and perhaps copying what ya got? Don't know if it can be done.
Might as well beat that dead horse some more....what has happened to Oddballs? I hope there are no members who sent in prepaid orders without receiving any decals back! Manny, it looks like you are going to be the blessing for all Frisco modelers who need decals. I see your business not only growing when you get it up and running but expanding as well. I only regret that I am "10,000" miles away from Texas. I would love to work for you in the packing and shipping department. I pack stuff so well it will survive anything short of an atomic blast! Oh oh, bet Homeland Security picks up on this one! Looks like Big Brother has been watching everybody and now the cat is out of the sack! Meow....
Haven't a clue what actually happened to Oddballs... but I'm out $500+ on a non-fullfiled decal order that was placed in good faith trying to help him get a printer. This was a few years ago. The non-delivery of the ordered decals has pretty much knocked my S scale layout theme in the head. Unfortunately Oddballs was the only source for the decals I had planned on and was depending on.
I regret to hear that you have taken such a large loss Coonskin. Isn't there at least one Frisco member who is a lawyer or has one who can investigate Oddballs? Even if it wasn't deliberate fraud if the guy is still among the living it seems that he can be tracked down and given the chance to make good or perhaps face somekind of legal action aginst him. This is a problem we won't face with Manny. If I were operating a Mom & Pop bizz and had support from the Frisco Folks I would certainly become a member in good standing which is like having the "Good Housekeeping" seal of approval on my character. Sadly, it appears that Oddballs didn't understand the meaning of the Golden Rule.
Well, I'm going to go ahead and say it: I suspect it goes a bit deeper than just poor business practice. Toward the last couple years there was much irrational and unplausible emails/pleas/promises/etc. I suspect there may have been some sort of mental illness that crept in that hindered the rational thought process. If that's the case, I wish the best for the owner of Oddballs and hope the condition is treatable.
I've posted this at least twice before, and few have responded. At one time, I had at least one of every Frisco Oddballs decal set, plus several from other roads - MP, RI, etc. I have duplicates of several of the Frisco sets. If there is a specific set you are desperate for, let me know. If it is one that I am not likely to ever use, I'll be glad to let you have it for whatever OB's pricing was plus the cost of the postage. FYI, they have been stored correctly in my decal drawer, kept in the dark. I've never had a problem with an Oddballs decal. FYI, the same situation exists with Herald King decals, and to a lesser degree, Champ. I have a lot of Champ freight car decals. I'm not anxious to sell these, but frankly I'll never use them all. I bought all the Frisco offerings to help people like Oddballs stay in business. Really worked out well, didn't it? If interested, send me a pvt msg. Ken
Ken: That's a generous offer, but I model in S scale. I'm betting the decals you have are HO scale. I COULD have decals custom made... but many of the sets I ordered were onesy-twosy to fill out rolling stock rosters, etc. Unfortunately, one typically has to order a sizable order of ONE set to avail themselves of custom work, which makes what I was doing with my Oddballs order out of the question. I just don't see much way to substitute what I lost (i.e. decals not delivered, not money gone) by Oddballs going belly-up. It's a shame... but it is what it is.
Yes, all HO. Again, I'm not trying to sell any decals. Just offering to be of possible help if someone is desperate for a particular set. Ken
I dont know if I can help here, but I just started a new decal business and I can print white ink. The name of my business is weathering solutions and we print on waterslide decal paper. Our website will be up and running here soon but you can check out our ebay store at weatheringsolutions or just look for weathered decals. I plan on doing custom work for people and we will also be doing matalics as well. If you have any suggestions please contact me at f4joe@hotmail.com Joe
That is a outstanding photo and scene there Joe. Thats a great set up withe the 1522 and all, would like to see the rest of the train First rate for sure, that WP hopper in the background is just superb as well. Please send us a link to your site, when it is available.
Laughs on me ... I glanced at the photo and did not notice that it was "staged" until I read Tom's posting. WOW, superb scene!
Thanks Tom, The hopper in the background has the decals we are selling. What we are doing is taking the long process out of weathering for those of us who would like to weather a fleet of cars without spending a whole lot of time. Are website is www.weatheringsolutions.com but right now we are selling decals from our ebay store. As far as custom decals go we can reproduce anything in Tom's catalog to an even better quality, we do not have the artwork but as the orders come in we will have to create each one from scratch. I will keep everybody informed as to our progress with our custom line and as soon as the website is up and running I will pass that on as well. Joe
Hi Joe: Will you be able to print in S scale, too? BTW, your website page indicates your site is down for maintenance.
Lets not forget Large Scale! [ 1/29 or 1/32]. The Cedar Hill & Southern division needs more lettering as well!! Dan
You might be able to work out something for the locomotive tender numbers from Rail Graphics?? http://www.railgraphicsdecals.com/index.htm Tom G.
