Please vote in the poll!!! We need to know what locomotive to do after the GP-7L decals are released. As it stands right now the F units A and B has received 4 votes and RS-1 and GP-35 have each earned 3 votes. The poll will close on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 5:32pm. !!! PLEASE VOTE !!! Joe
Your welcome Steve, I have requested QA&P lettering be included with the Frisco GP-7L locomotive decals. Joe
Was there ever a source that was turned up for actual Frisco black and yellow stripe paint schematics?
Thank you guys for participating in the poll !!! The final tally of the poll: GP-7L 12 A and B F-Units 8 U-25B 6 GP-35 5 RS-1 5 44 Ton 4 S-2 3 VO-1000 2 RS-2 0 H-10-44 0 THANK YOU, Joe
I misunderstood. When I said I was going to buy some, I didn't realize they were only available for the EMD switcher. I only have a need for RS-1 (1) and 44 tonner (1) decals... with AT&N sub-lettering. Somehow, I missed the poll. Obviously I would have added another vote for the RS-1 & the 44 tonner.
I missed the poll. I will be trying to create my own GP7 decal set. I guess I will find out how difficult this process is.
I got some Virginia and Truckee decals from an ebay seller. They looked new and not labeled, so i asked if he printed them, said he has a shop do batches for him. I asked if he would do Frisco , and he would consider it if he knew how much demand there is. So there ya go, but i bet we'd need better numbers than Joe's tally here. A print shop would need orders of dozens, or a gross at a run -or so i'd imagine? He is Sweetwater Loco Repair, Mansfield, Mo. So a home turf guy too...
Anyone have any information on what is happening with this project? It has been 7 months from last post?
I just had a friend who ordered custom made decals two days ago and they have already been shipped to him. They were not like a loco set - just a name and scroll work for a passenger train akin to "The Texas Special" They came from www.circusdecals.com
Thanks for bringing up this thread again Sherrel!!! I didn't realize it was seven months since the last post. Guess I've been sleeping, lol. Joe
The above linked "Circus City" decal supplier looks like a good possibility for low-demand decal printing. I'm not overly impressed with Mask Island's SLSF switcher decal set in both choice of subject and execution. Personally, I've iced the corporate Frisco stripe decal idea for now. When the time comes to renew my Frisco-oriented personal modeling efforts, I may turn to such a supplier as Circus City, and any overage, sell them off to any that may be interested here at this forum.
I have purchased M&A decals from Circus City, they were not listed in the catalog but he had made them for someone else, (Jeff Cooney maybe?), but I contacted him and bought some. They're good quality decals and he was great to do business with. You can follow Circus City Decals on Facebook. (No, I don't get a commission from him.)
I'm also curious about the current status of the diesel decal project. I have EMD and Frisco B&Y original paint diagrams for Fs, GP-7, GP-35, and VO-1000, and can do the cad artwork, if it hasn't been done in a usable way already. I may be missing some of the individual numeral's fonts. I've done the artwork for a Frisco heavyweight set that I intend to "someday soon" have Microscale produce as a custom set, and the diesel's look pretty doable too, if I'm not duplicating someone else's work. Since I'm not working in strange foreign lands anymore, I have a little more time on my hands than I used to, so I thought I'd check. Dan Hall 479-629-5373
Dan: First off, good to see you here. It's been a while. If you haven't read the info in some of my threads, I will be joining the ranks of the retired next June. We'll need to get together and get caught up on things. During the times I was trying to spearhead a cooperative effort, I made a call-out for any surviving B&Y paint diagrams and only got the sound of cricketts. I'm sure your diagrams would be of value. As for the F's, I recall the Microscale B&Y set being a very good start point for F's. As for not duplicating someone's work: A scheme is a scheme. A 5" stripe is a 5" stripe and so forth. There's not much way you can avoid some duplication if both attempts are accurate. I wouldn't unduly worry about it, or over-think it to the point of analysis paralysis.
