I saw three trains today( Tues) on the sub. Two entering Lindenwood and another in Eureka. Is the sub re- opened or just getting detours via the Mop at Pacific? One of the trains at Lindenwood had two CN locos up front. Any info?

There has been fairly normal activity through Kirkwood since just after Noon Thursday, January 7 when a STLTUL went through. See
    http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index....closed-due-to-flooding-march-2008.1552/page-2

I do not know the state of the Jerome bridge approaches, however. Someone else could update us here or on the thread in the link above.

The eastbound with the two CN locomotives was pretty neat; So was the next one with the yard unit and blue CITX locomotives. (Gotta carry the camera at all times :) )

I saw a WB going through Pacific this afternoon and it was west of the UP connection.

  4. I have seen black Norfolk Southern locomotives
on the BNSF going through Valley Park. I guess they
bid lower for transporting some special loads?

They are more likely run-through power with BNSF crews. They seem to go in both directions. The one run-through that really catches the eye is the "Eagle-Pass" train of Tate&Lyle (Staley) corn syrup that, I am fairly sure, comes from Decatur, IL on NS. It is a very heavy train of around 86 shorty tank cars with 3 or 4 NS locomotives. It frequently, but not always, picks up a BNSF loc0motive to lead it, however.

Yes, A E Staley is in Decatur, IL and does a lot of corn processing. They were a good customer of mine back in the day. We sold them a lot of phosphates. NS, ex Wabash no doubt, is how they get to StL and on the ex-Frisco.
NS is doing some strange stuff with locomotives per Diesel Era.
