I am wanting to use the AMB kit to make a copy of 876. 1. Which trucks and couplers would be the best match? 2. Are there detail parts available for things like the grab iron and ladder parts? 3. Is the kit still available from Rick? Thanks
I'm not at home right now so I don't have any part numbers but for the trucks use Proto 2000 50 ton plankless trucks and #5 Kadee couplers. Detail Associates makes the caboose detail set but doesn't include the marker lamps and some grabs need to be modified a bit, nothing too difficult. I do believe there are more kits available. The kit includes ladders which are tricky to build but they look better than the plastic ladders that come with the Detail Associates detail kit in my opinion. Good luck.
Look at the Tichy #3051 caboose truck, plastic with leaf springs. Nicely done, can't beat the price - $2.95. Ken
