Tonight, I changed the number of an Accurail USRA single-sheathed box car using the very nice renumbering decals from Accurail. I changed from SLSF 129601 to SLSF 129694. Both of the side number decals broke into three pieces in the water bath, though I was able to salvage them such that the renumbering was successful. These Accurail renumbering decals were about three years old. Has anyone else had this problem with these decals, or do I just have a bad set? This is the first problem I have ever had with any of the Accurail renumbering sets. Ken
I've recently learned to first spray older decals with some Testors decal bonder. I can't comment on the Accurail decals shelf life.
Ken I had the same problem as you with the set for the offset hopper. The model was out less than a year when I bought them, so I don't think age was a factor. Rich
Many of my decals are over ten years old. Herald King, Microscale, odd balls decals, champ. All that you need to do is coat any old decal with Microscale decal film solution, and they will be fine.
