I like em just fine. Whatever flaws they may have are easily covered by light weathering.........much like most of my custom work over the years....
I got my new Athearn SD40-2s out of their boxes and admired them for a bit, then put them back in the boxes until fall, when the AC business slows...

Actually, that's what I use for my base. Plywood, topped with the pink 3/4 inch styrofoam. Then, I put cork on top of the styrofoam.
