Had to order more red LEDs. Soldered LEDs and glued to crossbucks, and built a test track sample with photoresistors on foamcore: Got a center-off potentiometer and soldered up a DCC++ throttle: Used foamcore to build a temporary "case." See http://www.trainelectronics.com/DCC_Arduino/DCC++/Throttle/index.htm
Happy Wednesday Frisco Nation, Hoisting the last two modules for the Crawford and Cherokee (7.5-ft modules) up onto the workbench for switch machines. The 8 new modules all have feeders and power bus. Hope all are well, and Happy Thanksgiving!.
Looks good Robert. Not much here this week. I did get the chassis to the Springfield truck painted black. I also have a couple more I'm working on for my buddy in Toledo.
Bridge number 2 going in. Also a gadget to align the rail on the swing bridge. If anyone has ideas on how to align the ends please give me some tips?
Bill, I have an idea that involves a multi-layer pc board interleaved joint that would align them vertically and horizontally.
Pretty busy week here. I finished last weeks cars: I also got quite a bit done on my photo diorama. Got my Bill Jackson inspired water poured:
Keith mine is on a curve so theirs extra involved. I can line it, without too much trouble. It would be nice if I could just shut the gate, take a look and hi-ball. I will be watching to see what you come up with. Bill
That is good work on the landscaping, that is what I want to try super detail. Making the scene look real is now my challenge. Ol James does some nice stuff, and theirs nothing wrong with a operating layout, something functional to simulate train movements. I had 40 years of that though, so, for me it's the memories the scenes. I want realism I should have a edge, cause I have seen a LOT of Railroad. Realism Period. Bill
Pretty well wrapped up my diorama for photo shoots. Took a few test shots just in the garage. Pay no attention to the wheels on the ground, missing coupler and grab irons!LOL I just couldn't resist taking a couple with stuff sitting in the garage. In true Frisco fashion I had to have a locomotive with the doors open.
I like the old stump on the bank with exposed roots on your diorama, Steve. Jim James was the first I'd seen to do this effectively; I really like the way that it emphasizes "here be the water." Enjoying seeing everyone's work. Haven't touched the workbench in a month. Hoping for some time tomorrow when then rain falls and the wife and kids are at football.
Steve, your diorama is fantastic!!! I too like the tree stump. The whole diorama gives the impression that the scene is in Missouri, Arkansas or Oklahoma. Great detail of underbrush between the woods and Hurt Creek. Add a couple more dioramas and you will have a layout, you have already started on it. Doing scenery is one of my favorite projects in building a layout, you have a good eye for scenery details. Great job!!! Joe
Thanks Joe. My one goal was for it to look Ozark. Hopefully it works. I certainly have a lot of respect for anyone with a layout. Both the number of hours and dollars. Much less something like Tom’s with an acre of layout. I truly can not imagine it. Thanks again.
Made it outside today. It has rained so much I couldn't go to my good spots all had to be on the deck at the house but oh well. You guys get the idea at least. Enjoy, Steve
