If it is weathered like Steve often does, it doesn't make any difference anyway.

"The red-orange problem is worse than that for Frisco fans...."

Not to those of us that saw the paint buckets.

I tried Solvaset on the cab sides, but Solvaset would not touch the pad-printed numbers; I let it set for at least fifteen minutes following the Athearn Youtube video.
I will fix the number boards in-situ.

I got a FM switcher in Pennsy and I thought it was black. I was going to lift the lettering (solvaset, pencil eraser) and redecal for Frisco, but when I got it under a light it was definitely green.
I don't feel too sorry for SPFs. They get just about everything.

They're black. I turned on into a Frisco unit by removing the PENNSYLVANIA lettering with a q-tip and brake fluid.

  6. Interesting Keith. I have done a few Genesis renumbers that way with no problem. Just your luck right?

I renumbered a couple old Proto racehorse E8s that probably soaked a day before they came off. But most come off quick.

  7. I’ve done 5 of those same GP7s with a couple to go still. I touch them up with black and it seems to match well.

Isn't that Brunswick green like a tank car of black, with a couple thimbles of green added?

Worked on my grain elevator last weekend. I used my power sander to sand the sides of the ABS pipe, so it would have a rough, flat spot for the glue to hold to. I was doing it in the alley, and got a very odd look from a neighbor. He finally asked me what I was doing, so I fessed up. As it happens, he's an architect and was interested in model building, so we talked about modeling for a while. It turns out he builds 1/35 armor models.

I glued them together with plumbing cement, and let them dry on a piece of glass. I cut some Evergreen styrene 2x10s and laid them in the gaps to fill in:
I spraypainted everything primer gray and primer white, for an aged concrete look:

Need to build a loading shed and run some piping.

Worked on underframe brake rigging and painted, and did some work on the muley caboose:
Mounted the underframes in 3 Accurail Frisco cars:
Can't find corner grabs for the cupola roof--I know they're around here somewhere:

    redecaled a dining car:

Spent way too much time trying (and failing) to mount a Proto 1000 motor in an Athearn frame for this Bowser FM:
and finally, welcomed this little 4-4-0 to the island of misfit toys:

Needs some tinkering, but sure looks good.

    Good Evening Friends,

If I did not know better, I would say that there is a Do'ins a Transpirin' down by the rail yard on the Crawford and Cherokee. Maybe some shenanigans from visitors down Cape Girardeau way. They do look familiar. (sorry for the backdrop fail).

I must have spent the week somehow on the same caboose wavelength as Gary. Another Roundhouse kit getting some marker lamps. I also found my stash of microscope cover slips, so hopefully some weathering and windows to finish this one up.

Wish I had more time for the fun. Happy Workshop Day, All!

I planing to buy a HO 2-8-0 locomotive some time in the future, maybe three months. Between IHC, Spectrum or Bowser which one would be the best buy?

Been on a passenger car kick lately, a few months ago I bought a 6-car undecorated heavyweight set off ebay...I got 3 baggage cars, a RPO, coach & diner, paid a fortune to get it shipped but for a set of blue box cars that were already painted but not assembled it was reasonable...For decaling I used Microscale 87-241 SP 1920's Heavyweight Passenger Cars as SOUTHERN PACIFIC has all the letters you need to spell FRISCO...Still need to get the small SLSF above the name but that can wait for another day...Roger

Been wanting to do this one for a long time...Not sure if it is correct as I have never seen a good photo of one, I went by the description in Zephyr Blue & White Passenger Cars book posted on this website...There is a photo of a model of one here but it was pretty much a top down shot so I couldn't see the ends or trucks, if it's wrong I'm open for suggestions on how to correct it...I used a variety of decals, for FRISCO is used Microscale #90012 White Extended Roman Letters, for the small SLSF I used Microscale 87-85 Frisco Cabs & Cabooses, the #1203 came from K4 cabooses & the white stripe is Microscale (I can't remember the width)...Roger

    Roger:

REALLY like the way your psgr cars turned out! I too, love those old Athearn BB "compressed" (short) cars. I use them exclusively for my diesel era.

That blue Frisco scheme is almost the spitting image (I will be using a bit lighter shade of blue) of what I envision for my completed KC&G psgr cars!

The last passenger car is a black one, it's a stock blue box coach...I only know of 3 that were painted this way (Sterling Price, Tulsa & Huntleigh) if there anymore I would like to know...For decals I used Microscale #90012 for the FRISCO, the rest of the numbers & name I used Microscale #90002...BTW both this one & the blue one were painted with rattle cans...Roger

Buy one of the newer Bachmann locomotives in the model #513xx series (no belt drive). The Spectrum series model #83xxx and #11xxx may have belt drive issues.
