    Thanks, Steve.

    Yup, on the MRH.

I'm sorta' kinda' wanting to migrate postings about my work over here, too. We seem to be a much closer-knit group with good interaction than MRH.

I've been here much longer (since it's inception?) than most model railroad/historical sites, and besides, given my past experiences with, and modeling of, the Frisco, my roots run deeper here. To boot, I enjoy and find interest in almost ALL threads here... not so elsewhere.

Currently scouring my texture library (photo resources I've taken over the years) for suitable Ozark subjects for use as backdrop "PhotoFlats" (my term). But... dadgum... seems many of my best textures have a heavy Colorado bias.

Here's one I've doctored up and may have potential as an abandoned business...

Ozarka; is that where that water comes from?

    Could be!

However, I think you're messin' with me.

Ozarka spring water originally started in Eureka Springs, but the name has been purchased by a concern in (are you ready for this?) Texas. Probably nothing more than filtered tap water in plastic bottle for which you pay $$!

I don't think there is an "Ozarka", as in town (why I latched onto it), but a quick Google indicates there's a college by that name in Melbourne, AR, and an "Ozarka Lodge" in Eureka Springs.

I've had the name "Ozarka" on the short list to be used as a town name for my next Ozark theme layout for the past two decades and more... just didn't have a layout for it!

    Happy Workshop Day All,

After the most of the last week on the road, I decided to keep most of the layout modules stowed, and work on weathering up a few of the 1910-1920'ish boxcars from Accurail that I had built, but not brought up to par.

These Accurail cars are the majority of what I have for the layout, and when weathered up are fairly decent.

As you can see, the backlog has been piling up. A combination of airbrushed washes and highlights with Pan Pastels and they are coming along as of this report.

I like this one, but needs the "Peoria Route" on the door.

Some more from around the Midwest:

Not much Frisco in here, but a few coal hoppers (1928-ish) are still waiting on the Pan Pastels. Some variety in what is offered, and we can imagine a string trundling along on the Crawford and Cherokee's branch line to Weir City.....

Abut 7-8 more to go and we'll be caught up with these and need to get to some Tichy flat cars and wooden gondolas. Looks like rolling stock work for a while. Well back to the Redbirds vs those dreaded Cubbys.

    Take Care All,

    -Bob T.

    Great stuff Steve.

A quick postscript for my Wednesday post. Most of the remaining pile has good-enough-for-now weathering. Now we have a good selection of coal hoppers for the Crawford and Cherokee, post 1928-ish. Still need to build some more wood gondolas from Westerfield like the one from Jim, for running at a slightly earlier date.

Here is a pair for the transition era, once the new GP-7s come in.....tough to find KCS stuff. Comparing the KCS car to the Frisco one from Jim, you can see a good variation in weathering for very similar cars. Looks like I have a bit darker attitude coming through in the process. :cautious:

    Have a great weekend all!

OK, before incurring the wrath of the Frisco nation, let me say this is not prototypical. However, I really would like to have a ten-wheeler on the Crawford and Cherokee. Today, I used some Micro-Sol to remove the AT&SF herald from this new Bachmann unit and give it to the Frisco. If we can come to some conclusion on a better road number, will make that change too. Probably the road number font is not quite right anyhow. There was a 4-6-0 of road number 498 on the Frisco at one time.

I will say that the K4 decals are working well for me.

    ....runs for cover.

    Take care all,

Actually, it looks very much like an early Frisco 500 class engine.

    Oooo!

LOVE the old 500 class!! The earlier in their lives, the better. Here's a pair in helper service at the summit town of Winslow, Arkansas...

Thanks Guys! I will use the same technique for the numbering and shift it to a 500 series.

What was the range of road numbers? Any suggestion for SE Kansas routes?

  19. I put pics of this weeks projects in Bill's chalk thread. Here is another project on the bench. 1950 Divco rat rod. Still very in progress but you get the idea.
