Howdy folks, I having been searching for location where the Meteor (diesel era) trains might have met or passed each other. I searched the site but didn't find an appropriate timetable. Can someone advise me? Have fun, Mike
Hiya, Mike - hope things are going well. From what I can see in Eastern Division ETT 41A (7-27-1958), #9 and #10 met at Verona, MO (Mile 273.7) on the Springfield Sub, about 8 miles east of Monett. FRISCO Eastern Div ETT 41A July 27, 1958 Best Regards,
Thanks for checking it out, Chris; I do appreciate it. John Winfield (http://www.winfieldart.com/) is painting the Meteor Meet as his next release and wants to make it as accurate as possible. The painting will depicts a Meteor Racehorse and lightweight observation car passing each other. Hence, the question. Thanks again Chris!
I hope that his painting will be during the daylight. He has the Chiefs' meeting during the night - I had rather be able to see the trains regardless of the authenticity. His work is very beautiful!
Hey Mike, You might check out the history of Newburg book by Alice Beemer entitled "Newburg, The first hundred years" It has several photos of the Meteor in both the steam and diesel eras at Newburg Station. In fact, I think the Meteor is on the cover of that book. FriscoGeorge
I will be looking forward to this painting. I will definitely be interested in buying it when it becomes available. Terry
Does anyone know about how much the Meteor Meet painting will cost? It sounds like it will be a great item to own. Am I reading the Time Table right, the two Meteor's pass each other at 12:57am in Verona, Mo.? Joe
