Yes it is. That was my first reskin and it's a pretty simple reskin . I also reskinned the Frisco coaches. They were created by "pencil42" as he is called on the Trainz forums. I have permission to upload the coaches to the DLS but I still need to reach out to Ben about his steamer.
Dave, the modeler in me gives the scene above an "A+" for charm; the loss controller in me gives it an "F" for attractive nuisances in the yard. Best Regards,
I've taken a couple of weeks off from working on my route to work on skinning my first loco. I did SLSF #517. A GP7 in black and yellow. So now it's back to work on the route...
Here's some pics of my work this weekend. I've started to blend some additional ground textures and add some small details to a few areas. Enjoy. SLSF #517 in Bolivar, Mo. Standing in a farmers plowed field... you can barely see SLSF #517 through the distant trees traveling north just outside of Bolivar. Someone forgot to check the clothes line before evening set in. An abandon house and barn a few miles south of Cliquot, Mo. Quite a crowd seems to be gathering at the tiny Cliquot, Mo. Depot. Water runs under a small trestle bridge as #517 heads north towards Flemington, Mo. One of the few spots where the grade had to be cut into the ground on the Highline. Crossing O Hwy. The infamous horseshoe curve on Weaubleau hill just north of Weaubleau, Mo.
Dave, Once again I am impressed! This is fantastic work. Cannot wait to see the end product. It looks like some of it is finished already? I am curious about the location of the cut in photo #11. Dale Rush Carthage, MO
Thanks Dale. I appreciate the feedback. There isn't really any areas finished yet. There's still a lot of details to add like ground vegetation, more ground textures, and more scenery details. Also there's quite of bit of the route that hasn't been touched except for the grade, track, bridges, and telegraph poles. The screen shot you asked about is just south of mile marker 144 (north of Cliquot). I haven't seen any photographic evidence of this spot but it had to be one of the deepest grade cuts in the land between Clinton and Bolivar. The DEM (digital elevation model) of the land/topography is accurate down to 3 square meters. From google earth it looks like that spot is filled in with vegetation. I'd love to see what it looks like up close but it's on private property. Here's a pic of the spot. You can still see a depression in the land through the thick overgrowth. Derrick
Well... I've gone ahead and purchased Trainz 2010 to put on the shelf to await the day I upgrade my computer. Maybe by that time this Frisco route will be finished and I can enjoy the fruits of Derrick's labor! Andre
Very nice. The "boxcar depot" at Cliquot is an especially nice touch! By the way, my apologies for botching your name, Derrick. "Dave Ricketts" was a St. Louis Cardinals player/coach. I must have been listening to a ballgame when I typed that post. Best Regards,
Sounds good Andre. You might just have to start playing around with it before then. Yardmaster, don't worry about calling me Dave. Just don't ever slander my good name by confusing it with any Cardinals' player. I'm a huge Royals fan Here's some new screenshots: Crossing Weableau Creek Crossing O Hwy The banjo crossing in Osceola. Pulling up to the Osceola station. That's the High School in the background. Osceola at night looking southwest.
It's been a while since I've posted any screen shot updates so here it goes... Crossing Hwy 13 in Osceola. The dam in Osceola. Downtown Clinton Cliquot, Mo Just south of Lowry City. Bolivar, Mo Weaubleau, Mo A night shot of Clinton, Mo. The Frisco depot is right behind that MKT GP38. Inside a decorated SLSF cab. Circa 1980. North Clinton Interlocking. Here's a weathered 1950's crossbuck designed by a kind fellow Trainzer. Thanks to "john" on the Frisco forums for posting the plans. Weaubleau Creek and one of my new black & yellow F7's.
Derrick, That is AWESOME!!!! And yes I am shouting. This is exciting. Nice job, the scenery looks great. The Clinton Sub looks better every time you submit photos. MFA was everywhere in that part of Missouri, nice touch. Great job on Osceola too. My dad used to take us fishing below the dam at Osceola. I was more interested in seeing a train than catching fish. I usually didn't catch either. I think maybe it is time for me to get a copy of Trainz. Dale Rush Modeling the Clinton Sub in N scale.
Dale: Word to the wise... Do NOT buy from AMAZON. I did, and my disc and its security code DO NOT MATCH so it WILL NOT INSTALL. I discovered too late that Topics Entertainment (the outfit that burned/marketed the edition of Trainz I purchased) had some bad discs go out this way and I'm stuck with one. PURCHASE FROM AURAN, the TRAINZ people themselves! Andre
Here's some more pics of my progress. Hope everyone enjoys... Happy Halloween! A small farm pond north of Flemington, Mo. See the small mouth bass in the 2nd pic? Just south of Vista on old Hwy 13. Flemington, Mo. Just north of Osceola, Mo. Mile Marker 111.
Personally...I love the billboard for the "Baldknobbers". Now you have to be a real down-home Ozarker to know who they are! Am awaiting further billboards on your line for Frankhoma pottery and Walnut bowls. (Not to mention one of Jesse Jame's 30,000 hide-outs! I think you already provided an ad sign for Meramec Caverns.
