    Howdy folks,

One of my 2012 projects is to make steps for the kids to use during the Texas Western's open house. I'd like to use replicas of the steps used to climb onto Frisco passenger cars. I have a few photos of steps, but none for the Frisco.

Does anyone have a photo or dimensions that could used to build the steps?

    Best regards,

Mike .. I'm thinking of rambling up to the RR museum at Perris this morning.
If you think most all of the steps were about the same design and size, I will take camera, tape, paper, and pencil with me.
    Good to see you back!

I have complete dimensions at home, unfortunately I'm on the road until tomorrow evening.

Mike, this step box is the only style I am aware of used by the Frisco. Obviously, these were shop made and I would guess date at least to the 1930's as noted in photographs. The underside shot shows the "rag compartment". The Katy step box is the small Morton style. It seems odd to me that Frisco would use the wood shop made box on trains 1,2 and 9 and 10 but there is no evidence that I have seen in almost 30 years of collecting to indicate use of the Morton box, at least a Morton marked for Frisco. I do have a photo somewhere of the Meteor in OKC with the later Pullman aluminum type box. I can provide measurements if you would like. Jeff
