I've been asked by an importer which models would be more popular in brass. 1500/4100s or the 1060-1069? Lets hear your opinions.
I would go for the earliest Frisco Pacific, aka, 1000-1009, with a fixed trailing wheel. Sunset already puts out the later edition of Pacific's, aka #1025, and there are multiple Mikes out there by Hallmark and others. I say Frisco 4-6-2 #1000
Whoops. My bad. Since the 1060 is still a Pacific, I'll chose that one. Edit: Now I just saw a picture of the 1060 as a Pacific and then I go to the library here and it is a Hudson. So I'm thinking it's either a Mountain, or a Hudson. I'll go with the 1500 series. Final answer.
4100's are not mountains - they're 2-8-2's --- 4300/4400's are. (along with the 1500's) But since the only 1500's I know of were the Toby ones from the 1960's, then 1500's. All versions. R Bob
Not a steam fan but when it does come to steam I prefer the big ones. So the 4100 would be my choice. I wold be more apt to purchase one of them.
1500's and 4100's definitely. The 1522 is the best known ambassador of the Frisco, so I think that class is a good choice. Pat Moreland, Union Mo.
I think in terms of beautiful lines, the 1500s draw more attention, then the 4100s, with the 1060s following
Personally I've always like the look of the bigger 4-6-2's and 4-6-4's, especially in full stripping. But I think Keith is right, the 1500's would draw more costumers. If they made a 1522 model it would probably fly off the shelves. Ethan
I'd buy a 4100 especially if it was one with the boiler mounted air tanks...brutish but sublime. Larry F.
Well ... In that case ... I hope it is 1066 without the streamlining and with the scullin? center driver.
