  1. GP7 SLSF 534

I came across a Frisco GP7 on my railfaning trip though central Arkansas.

It is ex-Frisco GP7 SLSF 534. It was sold to The Illinois Central Gulf (ICG) and rebuilt into a Paducah GP8.

It resides on the Little Rock and Northwestern (LR&NW) Railroad in Perry, AR.

She now wears an orange and black paint scheme. Looks rather nice beside the Perry's old Rock Island depot.

It is accompanied by two Alco's and another EMD engine that was not present at the time.

    Ship it on the Frisco!

Are these the two engines you are talking about?

    Photographs are in Perry, AR.

Is that a new style camouflage that the military is trying out on 438?

Man, I feel like sending them a gallon of paint.

BTW , for my knowledge bank, are those 4 stacks on the roof?

  4. Yep it was the 7736.

Those are 4 stacks on the 7736. May have been part of the ICG Paducah rebuild program. It is now considered a Paducah GP8. Real hard to tell it ever was a Frisco unit.

The 438 is the other engine that was often seen. It has been repainted I heard. I am just amazed a Frisco GP-7 exists in some form on an operating railroad.

I was surprised to find anything Frisco on my trip. I also lucked into finding a red Frisco caboose sitting off the Interstate Highway 40 in Little Rock, AR.

My trip ventured south from there where I got to visit the old Reader Railroad. Neat bunch of steam engines there.

Hope to find more stuff coming up with band. We travel halfway across the state for most games.

    Ship it on the Frisco!

How did you know that unit was a Frisco unit?

Where is that caboose in Little Rock?

  6. Someone at the railroad offices said it was. I also found out elsewhere online.

The caboose is right off the interstate heading toward Memphis. It is sitting in front of a steel company.

It is off its trucks and on blocks like a mobile home.

No number I could find, but if you look you can see a faded Coonskin with Frisco still showing in it.
