Kent, did you also have Ms. Joan Gones at Chaffee High School? It sounds very much like my story. Same story with a semester of Spanish in college.

I never tried to tackle Latin, either. I'm doing quite well to avoid mangling and mauling the English language on most days.

That said - Tim and Keith...good detective work, and thanks for solving!

    Best Regards,

I am like you, I am marginally smart enough to speak one language. My oldest boy had a couple years of latin in high school and really liked it. The youngest took 7 years of French and also studied in France for one semester. He also took on class of Russian and his wife is fluent in Russian.

Kent, my hats off to your kids.
My English teacher in High School said to me one day, "I sure hope you make it as a pilot because your sure not going to be an English teacher."

One of my nieces out here has a boyfriend, that I met Thanksgiving, who is 27 - been in the Army for 7 years - American born from parents who are Moroccan. Long story short: He plans making the Army his career - speaks SEVEN languages fluently and works as an interrogator.

I had to pick my chin off the floor when he told me.
