I saw a photo of this car in Frisco Power and decided this was one of those must have models. My good friend Tom Teeple agreed to build it for me and you can see the results of his craftsmanship. I can model but I can't approach his skills and I was delighted he agreed to do it. My only contribution were photos, the car and the cupola. The car itself started as a Roundhouse U.P. Combine. The only thing I believe he reused were the passenger section and parts of the roof. Everything else he built. Terrific modeling don't you think? I haven't taken possession yet and I'll post more pictures when I get it home. Larry F.
Great rendition of one of the more unusual oddities to be seen on the Frisco - thanks for sharing, Larry. Makes me want to get moving on making one of these... Best Regards,
Very nice model. The only picture/mention of that car i ever saw was the photo in Frisco Southwest. Anyone know how long that car was in service and were there any similar "sister" cars? And any other places it was used? Thanks, Tom G.
Model looks great! This car is my next O scale project. I intend to model the interior too but I need a little info as to colors. Was the interior of these cars painted the light green/gray like the cabooses or the sand color? What style of coach seats were used? What color were the coach seats? What color were the floors? What kind of lighting? What size is the exterior "FRISCO" lettering? Bronze gold or Dulux? Anybody have any O scale Frisco passenger decals they might want to part with? Can anyone help with information on correct underframe/brake details? Scalecoat or Floquil Pullman green? To me, the Scalecoat looks a little bit too much on the "olive green" shade and yes, I actually still have Floquil paint. Any info or suggestions on any of these questions? Yes, that's a lot of questions and I am ever so grateful to the great and helpful people on this forum! Thanks again!
Larry, Tom did a fantastic job! Now the bad part is that I can't get him to do one for me at even what most would consider an exorbitant price.
Home at last! This is the other side of the car. I'd like you take note of the stair handrails to see the detail on this model. Larry
Well, I finally got started. This will be the first time I have ever built a car completely scratch from styrene. No interior for this car except for the coach seats. With the intricate end details such as the ladders I won't be able to make the roof removable. I'm also going to try Micro Mark rivet decals for the first time. We'll see what happens!
So far so good! It looks like a very good start. The micromarks are a dream to work with as you'll see. Keep posting your progress. Larry F.
Looking good so far, Tim - keep it up. O-Scale or HO? I'll be curious to hear the reviews on the rivet decals. I'm still quite fond of my Micro Mark pounce wheels but they are admittedly labor-intensive. Jim, I bet you're just glad for the company. Too many of us have been slacking and letting you do most of it for us. Best Regards,
