No, it's not SLSF #771...it's too easy to trace a unit's lineage....You obviously didn't read my post right. I never claimed anything about it being a heritage unit......What I did say was that it was part of a proposal made to BNSF about heritage paint schemes when the railroad was interested in them as a PR tool....The above picture was sent to me by a friend in KC....and was a by-product, or visual aid, in representing what a painted unit would look like.... Whether or not the unit ever existed in sheetmetal is un-important to me, as I am a modeler and sometimes a picture like that makes for a cool one-of-a kind model!

Now, as far as the other pic, whose link is posted above, and is the actual subject of this thread, thats a different story.

  2. Nice try Frankoburns; it sounds like your friend in KC pulled one over on you. To quote your previous thread concerning a heritage paint scheme, "so far, only one acutually ever got put onto an actual locomotive... BNSF heritage 771 (using a SLSF road number)... Unit wore the paint for quite some time"
Where exactly did this locomotive wear the new paint scheme for quite some time? I'm not trying to be confrontational, but these forums are full of mis-information as we exchange stories and ideas about our interest of railroading. I mistakenly said the ex-BN GP40-2's were showing up on the KCS in the summer of 1998. I found out later that they were on the property even earlier... fall of 1997. Be truthful and upfront with your friends here on the fourum.|-|

    Frank,

IIRC didn't you do some Dash-8-40Bs in a "what-if" Frisco livery? I seem to think I have it downloaded & saved in my MSTS files.

Yes I did....also a pair of SD70ACE units....both are in my file library...and Steve...not meaning to give out "dis-information"...just passing the info that was given to me....you have to admit though, it would be a good looking unit...

Would it be possible for one of you V scalers to start a new thread and explain how you do all of this V scale modeling. It is fascinating and I would like to learn more about it. I do not have any of the software that has been mention but I would love to read more about it.

I'll be glad to do that, Bob..V scale presents the oppurtunity to operate trains with semi-realistic physics, from the cab, outside, and run-by modes on actual routes created with Demex (a terrain sculpting program) using actual mileposts...activities from straight through runs to switching etc. mostly duplicating actual train operations. There are now hundreds of different routes, thousands of rolling stock models, locomotives (most addons, routes and equipment is FREE, and thats the best part!) and just about all the Nation's roads are covered, from current class1's to regional and fallen flags. You must first acquire a copy of Microsoft Train Simulator,,,,You can get it at Walmart, Ebay, or many different retailers around the Country for about 10 dollars...Then you join a Modeler's group like mine....thats free too....we operate from my Forum with 3200 members...We specialize in Fallen Flags, but also have Canadian Content for the sim as well and modern equipment too..We are just a bunch of guys who love to run trains and contribute to the community so everyone else can run them too! A couple other of my long-time forum members are also members here too! My website URL is
    http://www.mophouse-mltdownload.com
Feel free to stop by and register...I approve most accounts in 24 hours or less (I do work)...but we are there to have a good time and offer tech support for the sim...(We call it MSTS)...and run trains, all aspects of railroading are welcome, from Prototype to any type of modeling, and photography as well.
