    Ethan and All:

I believe the memo was in error and meant to say U30b instead of Dash 8-40B/BW as Atlas currently doesn't list that model in their A-Z Shipping Schedule.

Actually your not in fault. Atlas and or Hobbies USA is. I got the email with the memo and it says "Dash 8-40B/BW"

Just to update everyone, QSI is evidently is starting to finally supply Atlas with their new "Titan" decoders as they have moved the GP40-2, the sound version MP15DC, and the SD/SDP35 from TBD status to shipping in Dec 2011. That leaves the U30b and the C420 still in TBD status. I think that we may see our locos late spring or early summer of next year.

Can't wait. Wish they had eight unit numbers instead of four.

I went out and did some digging on these new decoders. They look pretty good. Looks like instead of having to buy a specific decoder for your prime mover sound it will have the whole library stored on the decoder. We'll have to see how the sounds compare to Soundtrax. I don't have any sound (yet, waiting on my U30B ) but I have been told that Soundtrax is the best out there. Rick, I know you have some Tsunami's, and some QSI's of the now older version. You should do a test to see which you think is the best.

I just now looked at trainworld.com and they show the Frisco U30bs Due Spring 2012. Anybody else seen any hopeful signs? Steve

I doubt it, the atlas web site is still TBA.

I have been checking the Atlas A-Z Shipping Schedule almost daily and have noticed that although the U30b still shows a delivery status of TBD three other models have shipped and arrived in the states so QSI is supplying them the "Titan Series" sound decoders that seemed to be holding things up.

    Stay tuned!

    To All:

Atlas has just announced the "re-introduction" of the Frisco U30b. Thankfully all previously announced road numbers will be produced including #846 XR. The estimated delivery date is the first quarter of 2013.

Bob, Same price as when announced November 2010. I checked my old e-mails where I had pre-ordered them way back when.

Thanks Keith for catching my error. I did modify my post.

Being that this is a "re-introduction" do people have to re preorder if they did so before, or are they still good to go?

Good news! It's been so long ago that I ordered them that I forgot what I ordered and what the price was. I have the confirms here somewhere.

As I recall, I ordered SLSF 846 and SLSF 853.

    To All:

The suggested MSRP is $189.00 for the Silver Edition (DCC Ready but no decoder) and $299.00 for the Gold Edition (QSI Titan sound equipped). That is the same as the original price even though peanut butter has gone up in price during the same frame. Now we can beg the question: What will we see first, the Atlas U30b or the Overland Brass cabooses?
