    Folks -
My latest structure project - this is based off of photos of the Winona depot on the Current River Branch.

I'm using Evergreen board/batten styrene, trimmed in 1x6 strips, I believe. Windows are by Campbell-I spliced together two for the transom over the freight door opening. I also spliced together two other window castings for the operator's bay parallel to the track but can't recall -they were just in the scrap box.

This green seemed good enough - I'm thinking there would have been some dark stained wainscotting below the windows? Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Next stop is painting the exterior and making freight doors from Evergreen car siding and strip. The corner roof braces - still need to make a jig for assembling these.

Ironically, this was not intended to be for a Winona LDE. It was to be a "stand-in" for Pascola, MO. Now it will be a stand-in for Olathe, KS until I can find better photos from the 40s/50s.

Nice work. I like the transom over the freight door. Adds a lot of character and a lot of modelers wouldn't get to that level of detail.

Let us know what shade of gray you use and give us a progress report.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

Thanks for the kind word, Rick. My modeling's still not where I would like for it to be, but something has to fill that benchwork that's rising in the garage!

I just a can of Testor's Battleship gray spray paint on my first depot try. It seemed a bit too dark for my tastes. I might try that again first lightened up with some white or might try a "wash" to make it look a bit more faded.
