Does anyone have a brief list of the latest N Scale offerings in Frisco? I have not paid a lot of attention over the last few months. Charlie
Atlas made a rerally nice U25B, red scheme. Two of the smoothest engines for me, ever. I don't know if they were slow motors or the regular ones.
Are those new Flash? I have two U25B's that are several years old. I also have the E-8's in four road names. I think there might be 2 more out now. I'm trying to catch up on what I've missed in the last 12 to 18 months. Charlie
I have two of the Life Like E-8s in the Race Horse paint scheme that I used to pull my Texas Special with on occasion.
Russ, Which ones. I have 4 of them but I think there are 2 new ones or two new ones coming. You think I would know this stuff but I don't. - Flash, I think I have both of those units. If I had time I would do a spreadsheet of all my items so I would know what I am doing. I'm missing some items and if I am going to get a little layout going over the winter I've got to get all the right stuff. I can assure you it will be 100% Frisco as well. Charlie
One of them is # 2016 (Citation) and the other is # 2020 (Big Red). One of these days I am going to modify the nose headlight to make it look better.
Charlie: I know you are et up with the Frisco, but don't forget those interchange roads, too. It is fun to have a few different paint schemes thrown in there.
Wow, I finally made it here... I needed my train fix... As for Frisco content, I don't have any engines with a coonskin on it, but a few freight cars are dispersed into the fleet. Hi everyone!
I hate to see you missing out like that. Due to power-pooling there was a day that Frisco locomotives were no stranger to Cheyenne. Charlie
Thru Cheyenne, yes, I can see that... But on the Moffat Route?? I have pooled power from WP, SSW, SP, and all the BN predecessors as of the 1970 merger. I guess a Frisco unit concieveably have run in a BN consist over the Moffat shortly after M-day in the 80's... D&RGW and BN were good partners, sharing joint trains, pooled power, and with ATSF on the Joint Line. Dangit, I need a Frisco unit now!
Frisco leased most of the GP35 fleet to BN for a while in the mid 1970s. They were all in orange and white paint by that time. Paul
Microtrains released their depressed center flat car as SLSF3900 over the summer (I think it was June, but I'm not sure). Atlas has released 4 different road numbers of their 90/100 ton 3-bay hoppers in Frisco paint over the last 3 years. Another pair of numbers is due soon. Atlas and Microtrains have both released 50 foot ribbed sided boxcars in SLSF paint. The Atlas version came in two road numbers. I believe these were both delievered durring 2004. Atlas has also released a few wide vision cabooses. The first one was Orange and white #1275, more recently they have released two pre-1968 WV cabs and two post-1968 cabs. (The pre-1968 the cabs had 3 digit road numbers. The cabooses were all re-numbered to 4 digit numbers in 1968 when the locomotive fleet was renumbered to 3 digit numbers. These particular cabs were in the 200 series prior to 1968, and in the 1200 series after 1968). The N-Scale Collector did a 5 car set of boxcars in 2004 as well. I can't think of any other new rolling stock releases in the past couple of years. As for locomotives, the last few locomotive releases were E8s from Lifelike (which have already been mentioned) FA-1s and FB-1s from LifeLike GP38ACs from Atlas B30-7s from Atlas 4-8-2 Mountains from Bachmann (Spectrum series) And I can't forget that OMI released a set of E-7s in the Texas Special scheme. I think that wraps it up.... Paul
Thanks Paul. That is a great help. I bought the depressed center flat car on eBay already. Now, to catch up. Charlie
I don't know... I sure don't want any mopac stuff making my layout look dingy. Starting out it would be an all Frisco affair. |-||-| Charlie
I haven't seen the Frisco Depressed center car. Black? Thanks for the info, Paul Bender. I am sure that you are correct that there were no Atlas U25Bs in Frisco. BTW, I am painting my home road from a purchased ex-Frisco RS1. It gets leased as an extra power in the spring. And, I think I finally got that thing to run. You would think it was made by Alco instead of Atlas!
mmmmm, DRGW? I don't know. They did make it to Denver on the BN. I do have a photo of a Frisco GP35 on the Keddie Wye in California on the WP so anything is possible! Roger
