Hey Y'all, I'm looking for the proper tender lettering for the 1000 series Pacifics'. I have the numberes, but I need the data and the layout. If anyone has shots, and can help it would be appreciated. Heck, if there is a drawing series of that, can someone point me (us) in the right direction, or post it up? Thanks, Manny
I am assuming you have already looked through this sub-forum for pix; http://www.frisco.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?160-4-6-2-Pacific. I have not, in all my surfing, seen any drawings. That does not mean that they don't exist.
The subforum for 4-6-2 Pacifics under Motive Power >> Steam is a bit sparse (1 thread), though the photograph is an excellent depiction of the 1930s to mid/late 1940's tender striping. Somehow I get the feeling that era may be later than the one desired. Detailed searching through other topics may net more 4-6-2 photos. Otherwise, try the standards: Frisco Power, by Joe Collias and Steam Locomotives of the Frisco Line by Lloyd Stagner. George Nelson
I don't have my diagram book handy, but I think this works for the 4-6-2s Keep in mind there were 70 1000 series Pacifics, so you should specify what number or series.
The engine I am modeling is #1007 which will be in the passenger service gold Doric Stripes. I found the 1006 and have looked through all the information posted above. I should have been more clearer. I'm looking for the rear of the tender, with proper placement of the tender number and any numerical data such as coal capacity, water capacity, etc. I find side shots all day long. I haven't found pics of her rear side yet.
Manny - Not sure if you have access to "Frisco Power" by Joe Collias. If you do, p. 128 shows a photo of #1017, still sporting its doric striping, running in tandem and in reverse with #1028 near Altus, OK. Hence, the rear of the tender is visible. The numbering is very similar to this photo of the rear of the #1285's tender: http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?4038-Ellusive-Oil-Bunker-Photos&p=27650#post27650 However, on #1017, the back-up light is on top of the back edge of the tender, with the reporting marks and data centered where 1285's back-up light is positioned. Hope this helps. Best Regards,
The numbers are 12" high, centered on the rear of the tender and the capacity is like the image I sent and is centered horizontally just below the top of the water deck right up agains the beading.
Thank you all for the help. This will allow the tender to be properly marked. Unfortunately, I don't have the correct version tender for my 4-6-2, but it will have to do. I am having a back up light added to the deck of the tender. Champ decals are being used. Thanks y'all for the help. I love my Frisco family.
Don--That paint scheme on the 1015 model is the late (Or "Hungerford") version, with "imitation" gold rather than just metallic gold, correct?? Thanks, Tom
