To All: Although not specifically Frisco, sometimes I feel that an item comes along that is so useful and generic that it deserves mentioning. This time it is a new Walther's Cornerstone Kit called a Trackside Oil Dealer and Storage Tanks (933-4059). http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-4059 This is an HO offering retailing for $49.98 and will be available next February. Oil dealers such as this dotted the sidings of about every small town in the Midwest sometimes with more than one in the same community. Also separate parts of the kit could be used for other purposes such as the oil tanks in a field next to oil pumps. I encourage all f you to post your memories and pictures of such facilities along the Frisco.
I think if you combined this kit (with a little modification) and the McGraw Oil company kit they made a while back you could come up with a set up very similar to what is in Lamar, MO. Ethan
That is great ! There are still tank facilities and buildings like these on the Creek sub and the Oklahoma sub to this day. Two years ago I took down an abandoned 30x80' oil company building that was built of riveted steel trusses and steel angle iron wall posts, covered in very heavy gauge tin. The tin was stamped with the makers mark, and dated to 1927. I cleaned and repainted all the steel structure, and repainted all the tin, I have it stored in a different building and will put it up somewhere, someday.
